ok i got pulled over today for speeding. i was going 66 in a 45 mph street. the cop gave me citation thing, it didnt have any fine on it, but he told me that my appearance in court on the date shown was mandatory. i have only had one stop sign violation ticket in the past, which i had paid of and taken care of, but this is my first speeding ticket. so should i contact a lawyer, should i just go myself and ask for prayer for judgement. what should i do? also is this a reckless driving offense? any help is appreciated, thank you.

well i think it was an undercover cop, he was in a red ford mustang. this was my first time seeing a cop a mustang. i was driving down and i see the mustang come up behind me fast, i thought it was just someone trying to race me or something, but the moment i turned left all i saw is blue lights.

How did he verify your speed? Was it radar? If so, were you traveling in a group? Where was he stationed? Was his radar calibrated at the beginning of his shift?
There are so many variables that go into this. I was a police officer (an honest one) and I got beat in court by people who knew how to manipulate the law, or who knew the regulations. Since I was an honest cop, and didn't care about numbers, I never lied under oath. As an officer of the law you don't always follow the rule book in operation radar when your out there, so it's safe to say he didn't in this case.
With that said, I don't know enough about your situation to tell you what to do. I've fought 2 tickets and won in the past year. In each case the officer was in the wrong in reference to his operating procedure.
With that said, the officer may not even show up to court. If that happens, the case is dismissed. My best advice to you is to show up and roll the di. If he shows, be cordial and ask for a deal. |

North Carolina has a law called speeding 15 miles over the speed limit and over 55.mph .This is a mandatory appearence because this combination will take your license for at least 30 days. If you had speeding in the past or more, get an attorney, If this was your first, you can probally get it reduced in court yourself |
