Speeding ticket, cop wouldn't show the radar?

i was pulled over for the first time, and a cop gave me a speeding ticket. im from out of town and it was my first time ever being pulled over... shouldnt i have gotten a warning?

and the cop said i was going 79 in a 65... there was no way i was going that fast. when i asked to see what he zapped me at he gave some excuse, wouldnt show me and said it would only show me at 70 if he did.

he also said i was the only car on the road, there were two cars within 150 ft in front of me and one within 100 ft behind me.

sounds like crap to me. anything i can do to help my side of the story or should i just take one for the team on this one?

well he doesn't have to show you at all
and its up to him if wants to give you a ticket or warning and a lot is depending on the attitude you have when he first approaches your car.
you could try to fight it but it might cost you more to do that

Are you sure you were not going that fast? LOL, some people get going and do not realize their own speed.

I do have a tendency to lean against the cop on this one if he told you his radar would only show you going 70 though. I would fight it in court and use the words you just told us. Maybe he was bored, or does not like out of towners. They still have speed traps up in TN when I was down there a year ago. Depends on your area on how good the law works or how ethical the people and law are.

Sounds fishy to me to if you know there were other vehicles. If you do not believe you are guilty, why admit to it? I only admit to guilt if I know I am guilty.

Hey, if that judge don't listen and just believes that cops report, he/she is not a good judge. They darn well know that some cops are liars.

No. A cop doesn't have to give you a warning first. If you were committing the offense, you can be ticketed for the offense regardless of it being your first, or you being from out of town.

A police officer is not required to show you his radar upon request. You can request a hearing if you would like, but you are going to have to prove how you were not speeding. Just saying there is no way is not an excuse. You have to show undeniable evidence you were going the speed limit.

You can mention the discrepencies in what he said to try to discredit him, but the judge is mainly going to go by what is in the police report.

Your best bet is to contact the courts and ask them these questions. They are the ones who will process your ticket and will know all the laws and regulation. You should also ask the courts if you are allowed to take a driving school class. This will prevent your insurance from going up and points from being placed on your license. Just make sure you get the courts permission before doing so. If you donâ€™t the courts will reject your driving school certificate. Good luck!

Sounds like a speed trap. Is there anything on your car to show you did not live there? A city sticker? I would just pay it and let the mayor know that there no way you are ever going to drive in that city, shop in that city, or have anything to do with it and you will spread the word. I hate that. I have a little town to the south of me where there is a country road. No speed limet signs anywhere. I had a county cop right on my bumper just waiting for me to do something stupid. It was nerve racking. I spent a good part of my time looking behind me when I should have been looking ahead. There could have been a accident. I will never go back there, and I let them know it.

When you go pay, tell the prosecuter what you told us, he will likely cut your ticket fee in half, if you pay right then and there.
