got a ticket for speeding. What happens if the officer doesn't show up in court? Do i still have to pay a fine? am i off the hook?....

paying for the fine is gonna be really easy. I'll get money from races i will attempt.

Well, if you plead not guilty and the officer does not show up. That means you won't have to pay.
But, if you plead guilty, or no contest. You'll definetly have to pay some type of fine.
However, if the officer shows up and you pleaded not guilty. Your going to have to prove your case. The judge will give you and the officer a few minutes to speak. These never last long. If you loose, You'll have to pay for your ticket and pay for the officer time... I think =- |

The court date you were given with the ticket is an initial appearance. The officer does not have to be there. If you plea not guilty, it will be set for trial. The officer will be required to show up for that date.
Officers not showing up is for the most part a myth. On jy department, you get a minimum of 2 hours overtime just for showing up. Other departments in my area get 4 hours. A speeding trial would last about 10 or 15 minutes, so it is easy money. In addition, if an officer missed court he can be disciplined by the department, and the DA will not be pleased. No one wants to upset the DA. |

Your best bet is to contact the courts and ask them these questions. They are the ones who will process your ticket and will know all the laws and regulation. You should also ask the courts if you are allowed to take a driving school class. This will prevent your insurance from going up and points from being placed on your license. Just make sure you get the courts permission before doing so. If you don’t the courts will reject your driving school certificate. Good luck! |
