I'm 17 years old and I have a required court appearance in Springfield, Illinois
I want to know if my parents have to go with me, or if I can do it on my own?
Also I was going 101 mph on a 65 mph zone. ( I know it was stupid and irresponsible)
The officer just gave me a speeding ticket for $105 and he DIDN'T charge me with reckless driving.
Is there anyway I can keep this off my record by going to tariff school or something. I'm willing to pay the ticket, I'm just worried about my record and insurance.
One more thing, do I plead guilty or no contest, what's the difference?

i think if your 17 you have to have your parents with you. im not exactly sure why he would issue you a ticket with the fine and still require you to go to court. im not sure what the laws are for minors.
as far as insurance... if you plead guilty to the offense and pay the fine, your rates will go up and it will be on your record. the only way would be to hire a public defender or lawyer to help you. it wont be cheap, but thats the only way to get it off your record. being a minor you may have to do traffic school either which way. if your family is low income, you may be able to get a public defender or a cheap lawyer that works based on your families income. |
