I don't think it matters what religion he was. He evidently was a very sick person. Lets not entice more religious fervor over a tragic event. The media is beating this horse do death with speculation and innuendo as it is. Please lets not make it worse. |

Good point.
Also, I wonder how much press the muslim Egyption guy who saved his friend by drawing attention to himself knowing he will be shot.
People have a tendadncy to rnotice and remember things they agree with and dsmiss that which they do not. |

It's a very good point - hadn't really thought about it that way.
I'm sure the religious element of his ramblings would have been given a much higher profile and significance had it been about Islam. It all goes to show you can't condemn a refligion or a regious group because of the actions of one or few exteremists/insane people. |

Yes, indeed.
As outrageous as the crime was, had it been committed by a Muslim from the Middle East, many Americans would over-react. |

Totally,
Us christians have a very nasty habit of forming the opinion that any other religion is full of "Mad Mullah" type people!!
Its a shame that we forget that we have our own versions of terrorist, Waco etc..
THIS SHOULDN'T BE BLAMED ON RELIGION!
As far as i'm aware, there is no religion that advocates the slaughter of innocents, and all religions promise the punishment of people who commit crimes of this nature
(i spoke to an Islamic work mate of mine who assures me that the Koran is VERY strick about this!)
Lets be rational about this, a suicide attacker has got to be a very miguided person in the first place, warped religion is only the tool used to get him/her to do the deed, for this reason alone we can't blame the Islamic faith, if we do, them we must blame ourselves for Waco and others where do we stop?? |

Regardless of what he said it would make no difference. The man was clearly deranged and utterly unable to take responsibility for anything. He said he wanted to defend the powerless but actually slaughtered the powerless. He was clearly psychotic so whatever he had said it would make no difference. |

Good question. Try this for an answer. All religious extremists are like this kid because they are insane and that is defined by not living in the same reality as their fellow humans because of a distorted belief in their own relationship to the rest of the world. Truth is objectively he would be a christian terrorist. the primary difference is that he did not claim to do it in the name of Christ or in the name of Allah. As such he is just an insane piece of trash who went on a killing spree because of a distorted belief in his own importance. Muslim terrorists have a slightly different sort of insanity where they presume to know the will or thoughts of God and take murderous actions based upon those presumptions. Not even mainstream Islam agrees with those people. Christians are frequentlyguilty of presuming to know the will of God also, however American law tends to prevent more of these mass murders than Muslim law has in recent years: This makes a sane person fear a Muslim who talks about the will of Allah more than a Christian who talks about the will of God, despite the fact that they are obviously both insane by definition! |

I guess there would be a lot more anger globally and would give even more reason to Bush and Blair to carry on playing their little games in the Middle East. |

Christian, Muslim, Martian. There is no difference. He was mentally unstable. Just because he struck terror into a nation doesn't mean he was a terrorist.
That is one problem we have with the English language. We define a word to mean what we say at that moment and when too many people use that word and that new deffinition it looses the meaning of it's origion and becomes convoluted. |

Yes, I think if he had been Muslim he would have instantly been classed as a terrorist whatever the truth. |

Killer is a killer regardless of religion. But if he was a Muslim i think the FBI or the CIA would have found some links before now. So you do not have to worry America that another Muslim has killed so many of your citizens. Was this you veiled attempt to discredit, some religion? |

I agree with ridder - leave it alone - and just thank god it wasn`t one of yours was killed by this maniac. |

Muslims believe Jesus Christ died. Christians believe Christ died and rose again.
Christians normally do not have the name (ISMAIL) of the patriarch of ISLAM written on their arm in red ink.
Muslim suicide bombers do have the names of various ISLAMIC leaders and saying written on their bodies when they kill innocents.
When was the last time you read about a "Christian suicide bomber?"
However everyday carries stories about Muslim suicide bombers!
Remember how long it took the police to release that he was an legal alien. How long and do you think they ever will, release his Muslim background? |
