i thought i had been done by a mobile speed camera, it was on 8th march
how long before i could safely say nothings going to come.
in the uk btw

rock firestorm - it was a mobile camera, they basically sit at the back of unmarked vans, so from the front it looks like nothing.

You must get the NIP within 14 days of the offence.
If you get it after this (on 15th or more day) then you can challenge.

Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) has to be within 14 days, as quite rightly stated below unless you are not the registered keeper in which case more time is granted, tactics such as Automatic Number Plate Readers (ANPR) can be used to track you down, stuff like that |

Assuming you are the registered keeper of the car, they need to "NIP" you within 14 days of the offence, else they cannot prosecute you.

Well I got done twice in one week back in the August - I got the first through end of September and the second in October. Was doing 36 in a 30 and got 6 points and £120 fine in total.... stinger!
If your doing 35 in a 30 they don't do you ... so I have heard. |

It can take up to 6 weeks, they class such tickets as money in the bank, so they just sit and send out fines when they get round to it. |

I think there is a clause that states that you must receive notice of intended prosecution (NIP) within 14 days (allowing for postal delays).
If you haven't received it in this time frame I think you have got away with it.
There is a 'get out clause' after this time period has elapsed. That may be for fixed speed cameras only.
This is UK people!
As angel says below, you won't get done for doing 35 in a 30 zone. As far as I am aware the rule is 10% + 2 i.e 79 in a 70. |

about 28 days unless you were over twice the limit then it will be 14 days. |

Here in the states it takes about 30 days. If you didn't see a real bright, unmistakeable flash, you weren't "caught." |

It can be over a year. If there is a a particularly high rate of transgressors in any one month, the surplus are held over and then issued when there is a low month, to even out the rate of convictions and fine income.
You might get your fine and penalty points sometime in 2010, and you wont know till the little brown envelope arrives. |
