It is a chance you take.... run it and a cop is hiding near by.. you are toast.

I know personally I wouldn't write you.... I would stop you to be sure your not hammered or doing anything else illegal, and if not... off you go.

No.
Any light that does not change automatically is on a sensor. If it doesnt change then it means your vehicle did not hit the sensor. To do this you usually need to back up a little, find the sensor and pull forward over it. This will change the light.

If I was in a bad neighborhood I would run it. Otherwise I would try and move my car a little to see if there was a sensor. Patience is a virtue.

thats usually a trap, the cops like the lights that dont change easily, coz they know people run them, so they wait in the bushes for the kill!!!

state by state issue. Where Im from, if the light doesn't change for 2 cycles (roughly 1 min each), you are permitted to "run" the red; you would treat it as a Stop sign and proceed across the intersection once the road way is clear.

Yes. I've been known to be such a reckless renegade driver, to go through a red light at an unGodly hour, when there is not a single other soul to be seen in any direction.

IMO, a traffic control device is to control traffic. If there's no traffic, it is needlessly delaying my journey and costing me fuel and providing no benefit at all.

hell yeah, run it! just do it fast and make sure there are no cops around before you do it!

Yep, and I did it right in front of a cop. He knew the light was messed up, and people were treating it as a four-way stop. If you risk it and get a ticket the judge might let you off if you explain the light was malfunctioning and that you were stopped at it for an unreasonable amount with no other traffic in sight. Most cops would probably investigate your claim before issuing a ticket and will call maintenance.

Heck Yeah I would! There is no way I'm sitting at any light a 4 a.m. that's taking forever to change. I wouldn't care if I were in the suburbs or the city.

Didn't run one the other day. It apparently was not working right and went through a couple of cycles without giving through traffic a green. I turned right on red went a few 100' made a U Turn and turned right again. Light was still red but I was legit.

i probably would if it was one of those lights that takes for ever !! but if i had been at that light before and it was a pretty quick light then no!

Yes but it wouldn't happen. In order to have traffic lights it must be a well populated area, then you'd have more traffic..more chance of someone else coming upon that intersection.
