UK are Gypsies responsible for the spate of metal theft and pet theft?

Nope Gypsies are responsible. They stole my car and sold it to the scrap yard only a couple of weeks ago. We know it was gypsies because my neighbour caught up with them. Round here they are fully engaged in robbing every bit of metal and weighing it in. Annoying thing is that the scrap yard buys it off them - but no surprise really because they are gypsies too!

Of course it it they'll take anything that ain't nailed down! And a fair few things that are!!!!
At my former work they used to steal Diesel from lorries and batteries on a regular basis!
They are low life and I really don't care for the bleeding hear Liberals who defend them!

Everyone knows that SOME gypsies steal lead etc, dump rubbish anywhere but the right place. These scum give the majority of gypsies a bad name.

sorry about what's going on in the UK,but it's going on over here in America too. It's a rash of stealing copper, even breaking into churches & houses while people are at work!! It's gotten really terrible. I believe it's druggies. It may be what they call over there Gypsies.

Sweet Cheeks is right about the metal theft here in America. It's mostly worthless, dopeheads that wouldn't know what an honest days work was if it hit them right smack in the main artery with a big horse syringe full of it.

they come round and go through the skips daily at work 5 or 6 do the rounds every day. one even cut a meter of flex off a fridge the other day! and we have had them turn up on sites and pick up site boxes full of tools and drums of cable 6ft high and weighing over a ton.

In Britain they are a small minority so most scrap theft cannot be solely attributed to them. I'm from the North of Ireland lets just say they toe the line, they don't annoy us we don't annoy them but i have caught them red handed trying to steal pallets. As for pet theft i doubt it, they aren't going to cause trouble for themselves for something they cant shift for a decent profit. Romanies in Ireland and Britain love 2 things scrap and scrapping. I've seen them fight over a scrap car but they don't like to bring outside attention to themselves. They like to keep things internal. If there are gangs of criminals stealing lead from roofs and beloved pets you can bet they ain't local.

There is no doubt that this is happening in this country due to the hike in scrap prices and you do see gypsies travelling around in vans with lots of scrap on the back. It is, however, unfair to lay the blame entirely at the foot of one social group. It is individuals to blame and they must be dealt with by the police as individuals. Gypsies are often hard working, well mannered people . You can not generalise, this form of racism would not be accepted if it was directed at black or white people. We need to learn to treat people as individuals unless problems in society are going to continue to get worse.
