US MARINES OR NYPD who shoots better?

Who shoots better?
When?
Shooting at what? (a live target or a silhouette?)
Is this a combat course like Urban Guerrilla Warfare or Shoot Don't shoot?
Are we comparing pistols or rifles or both?
Snipers or Marksmen?
The Best at all of the above are the LAPD SWAT Team.

The United States Marine corp are the finest trained soldiers in the world. I know that they have many offers and advancements to go to the next level and become a sniper. Their's no urban NYPD police officer that will be able to take out someone from 1,000 yards with an M-14.

Marines are generally more proficient than NYPD. I was in the army and nypd. For the most part NYPD only trains 9mm service weapon at 25 yards max. Actually its 25, 15 and 7 yards. The Marines are far better trained. However you will get Marines that dont shoot well, and some NYPD officers that are exceptional shots. Then again you can also have a member of the NYPD that was a former Marine.

Is this a joke nypd officers fire at a firing range and have mostly or never used it in a life or death situation marines are hardened soldiers.

marines tend to have a more offensive tactical training basis than a city cop. Id feel much more secure with a platoon or squad of marines protecting the civilians.

If there are civilians around I would go with the NYPD. Marines, because of their training and are slightly less likely to take into account when a person is not a hostile.
Marines in general shoot much better but not with a handgun. They train more on other weapons. Heck back in my day they could not carry a round in the chamber, makes for slowed physical response giving less time for mental acquisition and assessment of target. That is what NYPD or any other cop is trained better for, Assessment

David V' answer is the best if you analyze the question. If I fire a full auto ya we all hit the target moving or not. But with snipe rife or semi auto I would bet a good cop is just as accurate a marine if not more.

US Marines they are special trained to snipe and shoot extremely hard shots. NYPD is good at shooting but Marines are especially trained for shooting.

Lots of questions that are different, what's the situation, what gun, that kind of thing.
If you take the bets police shooter (Like NYPD) vs the best Marine.. Marine wins hands down. A Marine Scout/Sniper? Best snipers in the world so... he would win :)

nypd. marines might train more, but the police get more experience in the real world.
