Uk bailiff about to visit?

Just to clear up some mis-truths. A COURT bailiff can force their way into your home if they think you are in, but only to arrest you.
If it's to recover a debt and you don't let them gain entry then the civil court will issue a warrant for your arrest, in which case it becomes a police matter, and again you are arrested.
Ignoring the bailiffs won't help and will mean your initial fines are increased to pay their costs.

i have had the bailifs at my house twice now ( diff reasons diff years ) and they have never taken anything away, like you i have nothing of value, all they want is the cash, you can make payments say Â£20 pw and they are happy with that, many are nice people who also want to help you as well, but in some cases they can get very extreme with threats and so on, if they attempt to get nasty with you, call the police cos they are not allowed to get physical with you that's assault,

Bailiffs have no rights to enter your property unless invited.
It is more than likely that it is just a threat that a bailiff is on the way, that is the normal threat.
At the moment there are so many people in arrears that the Bailiffs are way behind with things aswell.
Even if they get a judgment against you, it depends on how much you owe them
Plus the fact that you are in a bedsit - nothing they can do

If you can get the tape that is played in the film " HOME ALONE " when the pizza guy arrives...that will keep them well away!...

But, on a more serious note you can come to agreements of paying some small amount that is managable, like Â£5 pound a week! that way IF it ever went to court..you have been paying ' contribution payments ' they dont like it, but its shows you have been paying something, relax..speak to them first and dont bury ur head in the sand..goodluck!

IF they start court action you will know about it. The court will write to you with details of the claim. Assuming you don't just ignore this letter the process could take several months before judgement is made against you. Even then bailiffs can only call after the court has issued an enforcement notice which will take more time.

If bailiffs do call they cannot force their way in, so don't let them in and they can't take anything. Even if you do let them in, they can't take basic essentials such as bedding, clothes, tools of your trade etc. If you really have no assets then there's nothing for them to take.

In any case, unless you owe a lot it is highly unlikely that a debt collection agency will actually sue you. As well as the risk of them not being able to actually get anything, it costs them time and money.

These companies have usually bought the debt for a few pence in the pound. They are usually only interested in the easy pickings. My guess is that if you ignore them they will keep sending letters and will offer to accept less in final settlement.
