I've seen this video and it's disgusting
not only was the unprovoked assault disgusting
but the fact that all the other police were standing around the victim afterwards and stopping anyone from helping was even worse
and quite frankly outrageous |

I have seen the video but have not heard any sound with it. Tomlinson was walking slowly in an insolent manner that may have been causing the Police some problems. They may have been asking or telling him to move to one side as they wished to deploy operationally and he was getting in the way.
It has been patently obvious from previous demonstrations of this ilk that damage is likely to be done by demonstrators; hence the robust response of the Police. People who attend such demonstrations should realise that they are responsible for their own actions and if they walk freely into zones where trouble is predicted, they cannot weep if the trouble hits them.
I may have to eat my words, but I remain convinced that this was a 'set-up' that went wrong. After all, Anarchists are not renowned for their love of the Police; the web is full of sites that tell you how to frustrate the Police in their efforts to keep law and order; and, in my opinion, Tomlinson was deliberately mooching without an apparent care in the world in a situation that was emotionally charged from the outset, as the Anarchists intended it to be.
I look forward to the inevitable Public Enquiry. I hope a similar Public Enquiry is held for every Anarchist and Demonstrator who broke windows and who imposed such a massive cost on the rest of the community for objecting in a quasi-violent manner to a perfectly legal meeting, especially as the Anarchists pride themselves on doing bugger all, paying bugger all, and living at the expense of myself and all other taxpayers. |

My respect for the Police went down the pan a long time ago. They seem unable to tell the truth and just appear to be government thugs. From what I can see this poor man did nothing wrong and the Police actions were nothing short of disgraceful. |

I thought it was a heart attack that killed him, but we don't know the full facts yet. but I believe I can say the police don't give a shite whether you respect them or not |

The footage I saw of this is very damning indeed. All the eyewitnesses say that Mr Tomlinson had nothing to do with the demo, and that copper - with face covered with a scarf looked like a classic school bully to me. A coward that attacked from behind and then shoved the poor man into the deck.

Mr Tomlinson did nothing wrong at all. And the respect that I once had for the police is at an all time low. Men in uniform acting like fascist brown shirt pigs in 30's Berlin. Both UNACCEPTABLE and unbelievable. I hope that copper is suspended from duty and at least charged with manslaughter.
EDIT
The man gets up, staggers away, then he drops dead. Strange that. That copper killed that man, simple as that. |

Murder is "The deliberate intent to take a life" it does not have to be premeditated. However, I do not think the policeman intended to kill Mr Tomlinson. What is clear, he did assault him first using the extended baton then the forceful push to the ground. I spent 34 years in HM Prison service, in some difficult situations and i have never even drawn my Extending Baton. Least of all would i even contemplate using it against a man who offers no threat, with his hands in his pockets.
With such an assault (The baton is made from steel and is very heavy)
and then the very forceful push to the ground, it is possible this can place enormous pressure on the heart seconds later resulting in an heart attack. The question is what sort of society do we want? Do we want no go areas, with no right to protest because of our seemingly police state ? This is a very sad portrayal of British society. The Chinese have less restrictions upon them.!! |

The copper that did this is easily identifyable from the video footage. He should be charged with manslaughter |

Remember PC Roberts who attended the scene of a domestic on Boxing Day 2007?
Was the violent partner of the woman who called police charged with murder when the police officer collapsed and died of a heart attack in the front garden? No!? |

I have lost all respect for the police over the last several years. From little things like stop and search, to the huge amount of SO CALLED anti terrorist activities that they have been doing, how many arrests have lead to convictions?
The police think they are above the law and need to remember that they are supposed to protect the population of the UK.
I was pulled over by an armed response unit a year ago, it was pouring with rain. They pulled me over and forced me to lay on my face in the rain with hand cuffs and leg restraints with a 9mm HK MP5 at the back of my head! Why? Because somebody had called them and said I had a hand gun in my car. The hand gun in question was in fact a hose pipe spray gun.

Right now;I am keeping an open mind on Ian Tomlinson's death as I have only heard one side of the story.
I have not heard the police response to these claims that Ian Tomlinson did not take part in the G20 demonstrations.
Remember,Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. |

I think you'll find he had a weak heart and the cause of death was cardiac arrest.
There is a full investigation going on so your "cover up" story is false
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7990423.stm
And I'm glad to see you are a believer of "Innocent until proven guilty" I bet you would if you ended up in the dock!
It's not like he was shot!
EDIT: The man got up and walked away, he had a heart attack minutes later, not when he was pushed to the ground. You also fail to note that as Police were giving first aid to try to save the man's life they had bottles thrown at them by protestors |

I think it might be a good idea to wait until all the facts are known before using the word murder three times regarding somebody who died of a heart attack, and did not have any valid reason for being where he was when he died. |
