Underage first time d.u.i. offender in l.a. county info please?

i am 20 years old... i just got my first d.u.i. in l.a. county and im wondering what i should expect in court. i wanna know what fees im gonna have to pay and what the process to getting back my license is. any info will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

California is a "zero tolerance state" the penalties for a young DUI offender are pretty steep.
The fine could be as much as $1,000, plus "penalty assessments" = to about 3 times the fine. Although it is not common to serve jail time, you could receive up to 6 months in jail, and your vehicle can be impounded for up to 30 days (you will have to pay impound and storage fees) ... DUI is not a cheap offense! That's just the court!
After the court does it's job ... the DMV can take "administrative action" against your license. Your driving privilege could be suspended for up to one year. It's all in the California driver's handbook (see link).
Once the year is up, you would have to go to the DMV office and pay a restoration fee ... and submit any paperwork they need! They will have all of the details! |
