Find answers to your legal question.

Urgent!!! No one knows where my son is what do I do now?

I raised him until he was four and he was taken away from me because I was not on his birth certificate and sent to another state to be with his mom. After chasing her for 12 years I finally got some answers but very vague ones. She told her sister that she "gave" my son to an older couple who can handle him somewhere around 2002 to 2004. According to her he was diagnosed as bi-polar and lashed out violently toward her family so he gave him to some couple. No one can get any info from her whether she gave him up for adoption, to foster care, or just handed him over period.

She told her sister that she has not talked to him in a few years and doesn't know where he is anymore (this was last month). She will not give up the name of this couple who supposedly has him. It has been verified my son is not with his mother.

I am brokenhearted at hearing this news. He was ripped away from his surrondings and shipped off to a mother who twice abandoned him before only to be abandoned for a third time and this time I couldn't save him, none of us could. She told him over and over that I did not want him and other family members have acknowledge that he does believe this is true as he has told them himself.

I contacted the last known city where her other family members said they last heard of where he lived with her and where this old couple may reside but they told me to call back tomorrow in the morning to talk to a detective. I need to know what else I can do at this point. That can't be my only option. I have contacted "Troy the Locator" and told the producers our story but that I'm sure that will take some time. I need to know that he is safe RIGHT NOW! I will pursue the legal and medical avenue after I establish that is indeed alive and safe.

If someone is questioning a child's well being do they not have to at least investigate the matter to determine if he is ok regardless of their relationship to the child? I just want to know that he is safe for right now, they don't have to tell me where he is yet. If they could just tell me that I wouldn't be so sick with grief. Please keep him in your prayers.

I have hired several private investigators to track her but once she was found they picked and moved. I have already talked to the police in that state and city and was told to call back tomorrow. She will not give up the couples name. I am hoping the police will be able to get it out of her.

Dear brother, I am so sorry to hear about this. Unfortunately, I don't have any knowledge on this subject, but I said a prayer for you and your son just now and will continue to keep you both in my prayers, and I've starred your question so that hopefully someone with more knowledge than I have about this subject in my contacts might see it and be able to help.

EDIT: I have been thinking about this, and I was thinking you might try some of the simple sites like Reunion.com and maybe even open an account on MySpace. You could also post a Craigslist ad online, or put an ad in the newspaper where you think he lives. You could say something as simply as "[First name of your son, last initial], your father loves you and is looking for you. Hope you are safe. Please call or email." (Then provide your info. You might get a phone with a dedicated line just for that purpose, and set up an email account just for that purpose as well.)

I don't know if places that provide mental-health services would have bulletin boards or not, but if they do, you might post a print-out saying the same thing there. (The state or county-funded facilities might be more likely to have something like that.) I think YMCA's and neighborhood youth clubs usually have bulletin boards, for that matter. You might just blanket the area where you heard he was last with postings. Maybe even include a picture that he might recognize, that no one else would, to get his attention.

I don't know if any of that will help, but that is what I came up with as I was brainstorming. Will continue to keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you find him soon.

my brother I am so sorry about this. you are in my prayers always. you should go to the police and tell them what is going on and see what they have to say. please let us know what is happening

You can try going to the the news, a simple "plea for information" in the area. Not sure if it'll ever get on though.

Police may not be the proper agency. Have you checked local government services that deals with trouble teens? Or even private groups that does the same in the area? One cannot simply "give away" a child. There must be some PAPERWORK to do it legally, and paperwork = records kept SOMEWHERE to be found.

The problem here may be proving your relationship to the child.

I can not even begin to understand what you must be going through bu my dear brother I will pray for you and your son that he is safe and you may be able to see him. If he has bi polar the truth may be just what he needs it may take a lot of time and patience because he hasn't been with you since he was four.

my thoughts and warm christian love are with you my brother

Go to the police and tell them you are afraid your son has met with foul play at the hands of your ex this sounds fishy the fbi may be of help if state lines were crossed

My dear brother,

I am deeply sorry for your pain, loss and emotional turmoil you are going through. My family and I will have you and your son continually in our prayers.

May Jehovah be with you strongly in this time. PLEASE somehow keep us posted!

I will see what can be done on my end to assist. KNOW that you are deeply loved by your entire association of brothers and sisters worldwide and I am beyond POSITIVE that you shall have MANY prayers to the Almighty going out on your behalf.

Your brother in Christ,

Myron (Myro)

Suggestion from my wife Mary (your sister in Christ):

Mary said to inform you that you should get a computer generated photo/picture of your son, bring the most recent photo you have of him and have them age your son to what he would most likely looked like when he was no longer in the mother's care (according to how many years had past) and up until now.

She said that you can also check school yearbooks (being that he should be in high school now) as some provide addresses. You can also check school clubs, sports team and his friends. You may hopefully and prayerfully be able to get this info from the yearbooks, schools.

For example, if my son were missing, by looking in the yearbooks you may be able to get his new name, his hobbies, people that know/knew him... etc, more leads.

Mary also says that you could possibly also try to locate doctors who specialize in bi-polar disorder within the last known area of where your son was and or where his mother had him. There more than likely shouldn't be too many specialist for that kind of disorder within a small town and you may be able to get some additional leads with that avenue.

We sincerely hope this can somehow be of assistance to you our brother.

I can sympathize. My sister had an affair with my biological father, her stepfather, and gave their child away. He is my closest relative, and I have not got a clue. I have registered with every agency I know, and have had investigations for years, The legal system sometimes 'protects' to a fault. I have come to grips with the fact that it is too late for us. We are both nearing 50, and he may not even know he is adopted. As for you-I urge you to involve the media any way you can. Someone out there knows something, and the pressure may force the mother of your son to be more forthcoming with information. I hear your desperation, and I will absolutely keep you in my prayers. I wish the best for you, Brother.

Brother Shiloh I'm terribly sorry to hear this!! The only thing I can suggest is to keep calling and staying on those police!! If you have the financial means you have to hire a good private detective. They're very good at locating missing persons, just as good as the police! You are in my prayers Brother!!

Thunderstruck
I don't know what your economic situations like but I would hire a private detective. A lot of those guys are retired police detectives and have a lot of connections and know how. Be-careful to check their credentials though.

try the PI (with good credentials) route if possible. your story is convaluted enough that i suspect the police might give it a low priority - especially since you don't have a birth certificate with your name on it. but by filing a missing persons report i think their obligated to put it on an inter-agency network and you never know what might come up. the problem is that names per say are nebulous especially when a minor gets shuffled around different households. if possible, i might try finding a way to put the screws on the mother and sister by suggesting "foul play" or other criminal acts could be involved. maybe it'd be a little dishonest but you do have a right to know where your kid is and if he is okay.

by the way, i'm a bi-polar with supposed psychotic features - although not violent. it's treatable but it takes a lot of understanding and work. from the tone of your letter, i think your boy could only benefit from your presense in his life. i didn't have that luxury, but i hope your kid will. i'm not a very "godly" person but i'll make an exception tonight and send a prayer. good luck.

Tea party mamma
File a missing person report ASAP.... File it in the last location you saw/had him and in every location you think he has been - and insist on a copy of the reports..

Take the reports to the media..

I'll say a prayer for him.

Are you aware of the "foster family" that did away "presumed murderd" with a young boy but kept recieving state funds for raising him?

File those reports- his life could depend on it....

I will pray. Contact the police department in the town where she was last living. Talk to them. If you have a name for the couple, that would be even better. I would talk to a detective as well.

I'm very sorry to hear this, brother. I will pray for you about this matter.
I think you should file a missing persons report if you have not already, because he is missing, since no one but her is able to verify the story.
I hope the police take it seriously. Maybe they should investigate the possibility of foul play. I hope that is seriously not the case. Of course, you don't want to lie, but something bad COULD have happened so I can't see how it would be wrong to present something as a theory. Just like in a medical situation in an emergency room, you might be taken more seriously if you press on their minds the urgency of the situation.
A good site to get help may be websleuths.com. Many people on there are very good at tracking people down and they might be able to assist or give tips on how to proceed.
I hope this helps somewhat. Again, I'll keep you and your son in my prayers, and star this.
