I am a witness and was called to court and the defendant did not show ,The police said i could have screens to protect my identity .After having a sleepless night the evening before court i thought i would have a lazy day the following day to try and catch up on some sleep.Then i had 5 police officers knocking at my door looking for the defendant ,they also said my address was the defendants last known bail address .i have been in touch with the witness protection team and they have written to me to say unfortunately they can't tell me how this happened but they can assure me it is not a police error . i have now been put on sleeping tablets and anxiety tablets due to the stress , i have spoken to the officer in charge of the case and he also said he would like answers ,but he never seems to call me back when he says his going to ,the witness team have stated that IT COULD BE that the court have issued a warrant for the defendant and that some how the addresses have been mucked up ,but The TERM IT COULD BE is not very reassuring for me i have got it into my head that the defendant could have some sort of paper work with my address on it but no one seems to want to provide me with a sensible explanation so i have posted in here hoping to get some advice or reassurance also can i get a solicitor involved as i have 3 small children and this is worrying .
