Was drunk and used a friends I.D. for a drinking ticket, what will happen?

I was extremely drunk, had about 16 beers and was stopped by the cops on my way back to my dorm. From what I can remember the cop said he was writing me a ticket for drinking and needed my I.D. and being drunk I just pulled out the first thing I found in my wallet which was my friends I.D. he gave me to get into the bars down here. It looks nothing like me so I'm not sure how it worked but he wrote the ticket thinking that I was my friend. I want to know what other charges I will get besides the drinking ticket, I'm trying to contact the police department to get it fixed but I really don't want to go to jail or anything since I didn't steal the I.D. my friend had given it to me to go with him to the bars.

Okay, to clear things up, no I wasnt driving I was walking home. And its not a DUI it says underage consumption of alcohol by a minor.

I have my doubts but I'll bite with a novel suggestion.

Really you should contact the officer and apologize and tell him what happened and give him your real ID. You can expect to have a charge of using false identification or lying to a police officer (depends on the state) but I doubt you'll get any kind of a felony charge.

But here's another thought.

Have your friend go to court and contest the citation, say someone shoved it under his door along with his ID.He can say he didn't realize it was gone until that happened, that someone else used his ID for this ticket and he was not even there.

He should ask the court to keep the police officer out of the courtroom and force him to pick your firend out of the courtroom.

Have him bring witnesses (preferably ones who look a lot like him) who can say they were with him somewhere else. You must not be anywhere in ten block of the courthouse.

They charged the wrong guy, your friend gets acquitted.

No, if I were your friend I wouldn't take the chance or the rap for you, but it's an idea.

OOOOH good lord. First of all, does your friend know what happened? If not, you better tell em! Maybe he will just let you pay the ticket and take care of it under his name. Give him the cash, and have him use his credit card or check with his name on it...This is probably your best bet. If the cops don't know, it's better you just leave it that way.

Otherwise, he'll probably have to contest the ticket and go to court and explain what happened. You'll have to go with him and try to straighten things out. It'll be a long drawn out affair over one dumb drinking ticket.

Also, (just in case you don't know any better) do not tell the police that you only had that ID to get into bars. You'll get yourself into a whole other world of troubles then. No matter what your story, they may not believe you anyway. haha.

I am guessing you got some type of underage drinking type ticket or a drunk in public citation. If that is the case and you used your friends ID for that citation then you can be arrested for felony false impersonation. Any time you use another persons ID and it can result in them getting in trouble, you are committing a felony. I would attempt to fix this ASAP. Your friend is going to required to appear as a result of this citation and if it is not corrected beforehand, you will get in more trouble.

This is a fake question.

You don't get a ticket for DUI, you go to jail. As for the ID, you'll probably get charged with obstruction, and possessing a fake identification. Suitable charges for someone making fake questions out of boredom.

Is this in america?? because as soon as the cop had the slightest thought you were drinking you would have been given a choice of a road side test, or to go to jail if you refused. Anyway if you somehow ran into barny fief, then you're looking at id theft which in most cases is a felony...unless you screw over your friend that let you borrow the id...in which case he'll get busted (don't know for what) and you'll still get 'supplying cop with false id' which is also a felony in some states. you need to talk to your friend first (today) to see if he'll take the charges...if he is actually stupid enough to give some1 his id, then he deserves a number of years with higher insurance rates.
If he doesn't agree, then each second longer you wait to turn yourself in (as someone who 'stole' his friends id), you are going to get less consideration.

You sound confused, and that is not a good thing. Did u get a ticket or not? do u have a fine? all the info is on the ticket, go down and fess up.It was your idiotic brain that drank all those beers so its your fault.

First off, don't give us the "I didn't mean to give my friends ID" baloney. Why in the world would you have your friend ID on you? In all my life, with all my friends throughout college to now I've never once carried a friend's ID on me.

You're in trouble on numerous levels. If I was you I'd go in right now and talk to them and try and pass offf the "I didn't know it was my friend's ID" line on them and see if they buy it. The fact you're coming in on your own might help but I assure you later one when they find out, you're in a world of trouble. Better to nip this in the bud right now.

Um... firstly, I don't believe the cop would have let you drive away if you were as drunk as you claimed to be... and secondly, that was a bad idea not checking the license before you gave it to a cop. I assume you will be charged for the id that wasn't yours.
