My advice is don't. While a officer has ethics, it doesn't mean he/she uses them. This can anger a police officer, even though it shouldn't. A police officer can add things to a ticket if he is mad enough, while this is illegal, whos there to question it?
Just take the ticket and stay quite, and be polite, it is the only thing you can do. You do not know the personallity of the police officer, they could be having a bad day that causes something to escalate.
I was almost taken to jail for arguing with an officer, I was right and I knew it, but it don't change the fact that he has the badge. |

He doesn't have to, and telling him won't get you any breaks. My advice, don't do it unless you like misery. |

I would think the blue flashing lights would give his intentions of pulling over, to most people, right off. After the blue lights, I don't think anyone, but you noticed he didn't give his turn signal. Do you report everyone for not using their signal or just police officers. |

Ya heard me

LOL, if he hasn't issued you a ticket yet I wouldn't say a word. If he is writing one then just tell him he did not properly perform his lane change. |

Not a good idea to antagonize an officer who might like nothing better than to throw the book at your scrawny, reckless-driving butt. |

if he's pulling you over, he doesn't need to signal (in my state at least.....and I'd imagine it's the same anywhere else)
so I'm sure the officer would love to hear from you on the subject.
just because you're getting a ticket doesn't mean you have any right to be upset with somebody for doing their job |

You shouldn't. If you were being pulled over he more than likely had his emergency equipment turned on (blue lights). Assuming that was the case it is common practice to not utilize turn signals due to the fact that they are not noticeable to most people and blend into the other flashing lights. The purpose of a turn signal is to notify other drivers around you that you intend to turn or change lanes. If a police car turns on his emergency lights directly behind a car this is a clear signal of his intention, making a turn signal irrelevant. Also, if there is no one around you that will be affected by your intended maneuver then you are not required to signal. |

you don't. and if you do, make sure it is after you sign the ticket. it's not required for us to use our signals when pulling someone over. the flashy blue and reds say it all. |

R u krazy? That's not going to help your case, unless you're trying to divert attention from your own traffic error. And good luck in that! |

The law permits you to make a citizen's arrest. Because it is a traffic offense, you would not actually make an arrest, but rather, issue a citizen's traffic citation. Simply write on a piece of paper that he is being cited for failing to use a turn signal. Don't forget to ask him for proof of insurance and his license and registration. Ask him to sign your crappy little piece of paper, just as you have to sign the ticket you are issued. After you wake up from getting a night stick up side your head, you can roll up your home-made citation and smoke it. |
