What's the fastest over the speed limit you can get without getting an instant ban or court appearance?

At 5 MPH and up to 19 MHP over the stated limit i can issue the person a Â£60 and 3 points ticket thought i can still send them to court if i choose

At 20+ MPH over the limit i cannot issue the person a ticket but must report them to court where you will get usually 3-9 points, a large fine or maybe a 28 day ban...the higher the speed the longer the ban will be IE 6 months, one year.

But personally At 30+ MPH over the limit especially 60mph+ in a 30 residential zone then i will be arresting the person then and there, taking them to custody and having them hauled before the courts the next day or that week so they can be banned that week :-D

As you can see it will vary greatly according to WHERE you are.

I got 27mph over (52 in a 25) on my motorcycle once, and I just had to pay the fine ($225) no court appearance, no license suspension,.

Nil, in the UK. Some areas do operate the ACPO guidelines of allowing 2mph + 10% over the limit, but they aren't obliged to and some most certainly do not. I speak with feeling about N Wales . . .

If it tells you that it is thirty miles per hour.... well that is what it means. Plus the same with all that it tells you on the signs. It is of no use wanting to know how many miles you can go over, because it means what it says. It might cut down on accidents if all the motorists obeyed this Law, but half of them are blind or shall I say do not care.They do not arrive at their destination any quicker, by racing about, but do cause accidents many times.Glad to hear that you do not speed, and neither do I.

I was doing 33 mph, in the UK at 4 am , no traffic or people moving about . 30 mph zone!!
I was done by a speed camera, clearly recorded 33mph.
I got a fine of Â£60, that was OK, I was a naughty boy, but I also got 3 points on my licence!
Nice little letter telling me I could send the money and my licence , job done, or I could plead not guilty and go to court.
I was just worried about these 3 points, I saw a solicitor, I was convinced 3mph over the limit would be acceptable, and could anyone prove these speed gadgets were that accurate?
I saw a solicitor , he asked me where I got the idea that 3 mph over the limit was acceptable from?
I didn't know.
He said he could present an expert to put the point of view that these speed cameras were not very accurate, if I lost the case I would have to pay all costs, including this initial one hours chat!
We were now talking serious money.
I backed out, gave him his Â£50 for this little chat, paid my fine and lost my 3 points.
Where some of your answers say 'supposed to be' etc, where did they get this info from?

Going 20mph over the posted speed limit is called criminal speeding and you will have to go to court. The answer 20 mph over the posted speed limit.

In the UK you are supposed to be allowed 10% + 2 miles per hour before the Cops can stop you. Speeding in built up areas is madness, don't do it.
