Well... i think the hardest part was the background investigation. They really go deep into your life... I'm from Spain and they even sent letter to my family in Spain! weird....
Also the Academy is pretty tough... you have to be squared away otherwise you won't make it through. You have to really want this job because some things you have to go through are not something anyone can do.
I can't say anything about probation because I am not there yet but I heard that is where most people quit...

The two hardest areas in becoming a police officer are passing the background investigation and passing the polygraph exam. The psychological exam isn't too bad, nor is the academy.

The hardest part is finding a department that will hire you. This is only going to get tougher as the economy worsens. Many people see the government service area as a recession proof job and flood to it like moths to a flame. Here we've had to let officers go because we were in a budget crunch.

my uncle has an identical twin and they do everything together, one got accepted and one got rejected.
Difference was one twin beat up some crack head for beating on a woman once and the other didnt...you should watch what you say, especially in regards to alcohol use or anything else.
