What's your opinion on concealed carry?

The individuals who go through the legal process to get permits to carry a concealed weapon aren't the ones that statistically society has to worry about.

The gun carriers that should cause the most concern are the ones who steal guns, buy them on the black market, or carry them illegally. These are the ones who use guns to hurt or kill.

There are businesses and places in which guns are banned, even for those who have permits. Examples are schools, medical clinics, churches, etc.

I have no issue with concealed carry because the people who have the permission are usually very responsible citizens.

My husband is licensed to carry a concealed weapon and I support it 1000%. He works in the oil fields and there are many out there with questionable histories and drug habits. It is the only protection he has out there. Also, any one licensed to carry a concealed weapon has had hundreds of hours of training in gun safety and handling, as well as having had a thorough background check.

Think it gives a would be criminal a second opinion about comitting an offense against someone because they may be armed.

Though who carries is public knowledge.

I moved to WA state from SoCal, and up here you can get a CPL (concealed pistol permit) when you turn 18. You just fill out your background info and send payment. As long as you don't have a felony conviction or had a permit taken away previously, you can get one. Lots of people carry around here, but it is not a problem. I would've felt ALOT safer living in Los Angeles if I was able to carry a gun when I lived there.

I support carrying because I believe we should be able to protect ourselves and our families. I feel alot safer walking into a bank, liquor stores, hiking, etc,. I do lots of fishing and make sure I have a .45 with me in case a bear or cougar wants to do lunch. It's pretty eye opening to see paw prints the size of your head on the bank!

i'm going to get my concealed carry permit soon.

in the "old days" i just carried one in my vehicle anytime i went anywhere, but the law is a bit more serious about that sort of stuff these days.

besides, i ride my motorcycle a lot out in the middle of nowhere and feel a lot better having a bit of "protection" with me.

Most people who carry a concealed weapon legally understand the requirements and responsibilities of doing so. Before going into Law Enforcement, I had a permit for CCW and the only ones who ever knew it were the Police and my immediate family. My coworkers and even friends didn't know I had one and that is the way it should be. In my state though, you can walk down the street with a side arm in open view provided you have a hunting license in the state and know where you can and can't go with it. Many people keep rifles in rifle racks in their trucks and nobody ever steals them.

I live in a state which allows it, and crimes like muggings and personal assaults have gone down, because thugs don't like the possibility of facing the business end of a citizens handgun.
