Most are good people trying to do their jobs...but I've run into some that have some serious kind of "power" trip going on. I think that policing agencies need to perform pshychiatric testing at least once a year on everyone on the force in order to weed people like this out since they can be a danger to everyone. |

I'm glad they are there, despite a few bad ones. Society without them would be more of a chaotic cesspool than it is now. |

I think they have a difficult job. They are typically dealing with the dredges of society and if they keep their good attitudes, it's a miracle in itself. |

Good cops and bad cops, glad to have one quickly when I call 9-1-1 Wish they'd use discretion with their tasers, a professor got tased after he had an accident while going into diabetic shock. He left the accident and then returned and sat on the curb and didn't talk, because he was in shock, and he got tased twice with a lot of students around him as witnesses. The police always told us on our job training if we saw someone stumbling around and incoherent not to call the police and say that there was a drunk walking around, because the person could be a diabetic and having an attack. They didn't follow their own advice, the man wasn't struggling or cursing or hostile, he was unresponsive and sitting down . |

I think that like every other profession its a matter of individuals not blanket assessments. |

I am relieved that we have Police Officers. Their job is to uphold the laws set by our country's voters. I do not regularly break the law or do stupid things, so I have zero issue with the Police. I respect who they are and what they a here to do for us as citizens. |

I think the majority of them are good guys, but they need to have more psychological tests done. The ones that freak out with the power need to be weeded out long before they are now. I also think they should be paid more and be able to retire earlier. |

Like every job, there are good ones and bad ones.
The JOB however is a noble one. Military, firefighter, EMS, police are noble jobs because the individual is required (according to the job) to put his life on the line to save others. That is noble, that's what makes firefighter, military and police more noble than other jobs out there. That's why the good guys who do these jobs deserve so much respect. |

I nearly crap myself whenever I see one. I always think they are coming after me.
Majority of the time, they are arrogant, patronizing, and egomaniacal.
Plus they stop me from enjoying myself when I drive. One of these days I'm just going to punch one out. |

Not much I'm afraid. I've seen too many that were abusive, arrogant , crooked and felt they were above the law. We have a load where I live who own rentals that are drug houses and everyone knows it. My son was a juvenile offender and the police were virtually useless. They treated me as if I was the criminal when he attacked me. They are well known here for speed traps, but not responding to shootings, robberies etc.... Our former police chief went on investigations vendettas against anyone who did not agree with him...
I hope there are some good honest ones left, but they certainly aren't around here. |

I think they are just a gang, but protected by the government.
My husband got arrested once, and this is exactly what the police officer told him.
There are some good ones but most of them are bully's and on power trips. |

Typically arrogant, self-centered, egotistical, often bullies become police officers. They tend to think in terms of "us" and "them" when it comes to the general public.
They believe that the average citizen should not own a gun, not be allowed to defend themselves, and that they are very good drivers as they swerve in and out of traffic yacking on their cell phones or watching their computer monitors.
Definitely not impressed with police officers, and too often they do things that result in lawsuits against the counties in which they work, and it costs taxpayers millions for their behavior. |

i personally dont like them because they just blindly follow orders of the government and the government isnt exactly the way it should be, except for obama. the movie First Blood is a reason why i dont like them. but hospital cops are realyyy nice lol. |
