What Will Happen To Me Since It Was Filed As A Misdemeanor?

I recieved a check in the mail in january wrote out to me and I went to the bank it was from and tried to cash it. They said that they could not due to no verification. then in Febuary i got arrested cops told me that i was forgery and now i have court April 28th. It was my first offense never got into trouble with the law before.. after spending a whole night in jail im kind of worried where im going to end up.

Then Two Days Ago I Recieved To Money Orders Wrote Out To Me And An Email Sayin To Cash It And Keep 10%.

The Email Was From A Website Where I Applied To Be A Mystery Shopper. If I Take This Document To Court Will It Help Out My Case.

Do you have information or reember where the check was from? Was it part of a scam where you were supposed to send money to someone else?

Fir you were charged with a misdemeanor and you forged the check, then you are getting off lucky. However, if you did not forge the check, but it was sent to you, then you need to get an attorney ASAP and approach this as being a potential victim here. Were you to deposit the money and send a portion of it on? that is a common scam and you could have been a potential scam victim. Did you send money or were you waiting to cash the check? Just because check was a forgery didn't mean you were a perpetrator if you thought it was legitimate. did you still have the check in April when they came to pick you up? What did you do with the check or documents?

I think you may be able to get out of this if you had no intent to defraud and you did not forge the check. But there must be some reason why you received this check in the mail. If you changed the name on the check to your name, then you got off lucky with being charged with a misdemeanor too.

There are misdemeanors and felonies. A felony is a jail term of one year or more so misdemeaner is much more preferable than a felony. You could be fined but could also have jail time if found guilty. Therefore, you need to get you an attorney and fight this or if you are guilty, then you need to see if the attorney can negotiate some lesser charge that might not result in jail time or not much jail time.
