I've never sent a prisoner any gifts. Maybe you should ask her what is allowed, and what she could really use. |

Money for their canteen account, perhaps a family picture.
Personal items are limited, so you would have to check with the facility to see what they allow.
The canteen would be the safest, they can use that to buy stationery and stamps, or personal items. |

I think there is a way of putting money on a phone card account... you would have to check with the correctional facility. But then she could make some phone calls... maybe even call you. |

Something to pass time, a book they always wanted to read.
Some money and pictures of family. And a comfy pillow or something. Anything to help him feel better in there. Depending on what he did... |

there is really nothing you can give someone in prison, unless it's a spaid or a way outa there.
send a card and thats about all you'll be able to send |

You need to check with the authorities she is incarcerated with, especially if this is in the U.S. Most jails do not allow you to send goods directly to prisoners due to contraband. Most require you to purchase expensive food packages from an approved supplier, or deposit money for the prisoner to spend at the jail store.
If it's anything like Los Angeles County facilities, prisoners are then forced to give the few items they have to gang members just to keep themselves safe. |

Handmade portraits of the people at home - brothers, sisters, etc. You can select a suitable photo or photos and then send to http://www.paintyourlife.com and they will create wonderful portraits out of them – on oil, pencil, charcoal or on canvas. Try it out! It doesn’t cost much.
The same company also has a studio for oil paintings reproductions. If you are looking for an affordable gift urgently, you can take a look at their 'stock on sale'. Visit http://www.oil-paintings-reproductions.com |

Cigarettes and a nail-file. But seriously: books. Not romance novels, something to awaken their dead mind. |

Hello
|
What things are you not allowed to give a prisoner? This is the question you want to consider the most before thinking of gifts to give. . .
Don't buy anything that's made of metal . . .anything sharp . . . etc.
I don't think you can give her any material things . . .?
Why not give her food. . . bake goods . . . home baked goods. . . |

wow a lot of thumbs down.. well if you can't do the time .. don't do the crime. Jail is supposed to be tough and unenjoyable. as far as I'm concerned all they deserve in jail is 3 hot meals ands a place to sleep.. no tv, no ciggys, no privileges. same punishment I'd dish out to my 14 year old when he gets suspended from school. people need to learn to obey and respect the laws of the land. I removed my original response about soap on a rope seeing that so many lack a sense of humor |
