ive also been doing ride alongs with my local police departments.I look forward on becoming a Michigan State Trooper.

The information you gave is very vague, but with no criminal background you always have a good chance. Make sure you are in top physical condition, and work on your people skills. Other than that you will learn most of the things you need to know in the academy. |

Your GPA has no bearing on how good of an officer you will be. It does show that you have the ability to get through the academy without a lot of trouble.
The determination of how good of an officer you will be has more to do with your personality than it does with anything else. Are you even tempered? Can you make difficult decisions under pressure? Do you have basic common sense? Can you deal with the power and authority you are given without becoming a problem instead of a solution? Do you have a good sense of humor? When you screw up, and you will, your fellow officers will be reminding you of it for years. Can you deal with the sights and smells that you will have to deal with? They aren't always pleasant.
Since you are looking at the the Michigan State Police, how do you handle standing in the cold for hours on end at an accident scene?
