What are my chances on winning a parking ticket?

I got a ticket for parking on the sidewalk in front of my house. The sidewalk is one of those that curbs and I guess my tire was on the curb a little bit. Under measurement device it says "visual". Now I have to pay $120.00 it's absolutely ridiculous. How can I go about fighting this?

It will be very difficult.

Basically the citation is saying that the person who wrote the cite saw your car up on the curb. Assuming your car was actually parked in front of your house at the time (and not somewhere so far away that it would not be possible for it to have been present at the time of the citation) there really won't be a way for you to prove that your car was not on the curb at the time of the citation unless you have some type of video surveillance or photographic proof that covers the exact moment that the citation was issued. As well, if you try to go the 'my car could not have been there at that time' route you will have to prove that as well.

If it comes down to your word versus the issuing Officer's, you will lose, plain and simple. 'Eyewitness' statements are also generally ignored, since most anyone you bring will have some personal relationship with you and thus motivation to lie on your behalf.

It doesn't matter that you wont win, contest it anyway. Contest everything! The DA will lower the fine I guarantee it.

The cop who gave you that is an A$$!! That's if it's really as you say and your tire was only on the flat curb a little! I guess you could take a picture of your car on the curb as it was when you were ticketed, then show it to the judge and I guess it's a possibility that he could dismiss the ticket....but it's unlikely. They don't like to throw out things that will bring in money!!

Just pay it and be careful. You'll waste more time by fighting this, and needing to take off work.

Funny though, I've never been ticketed for that. Maybe there were other reasons you were ticketed as well? Like no parking between certain hours, on certain days, etc?
