What are my rights when an officer writes down the wrong date on a ticket?

i got a possession ticket a few weeks ago (in 2009), and the officer wrote that i need to appear in court on or before 3-30-2008. i know it's a long shot, but does that work the same way that an officer not reading you your miranda rights work, and make the ticket null? i know, i know, it's illegal to smoke and dumb to get caught, i'm just wondering about the technicality, thanks

There is no legal requirement to dismiss a ticket because of an error. In this case, the court clerk will probably catch the error and correct it before your court date.
You may want to read up on Miranda. If the officer does not read you your rights, it does not mean the charges will be dismissed. It only means the answers to any questions you gave will not be admissible in court. |
