I'm currently in school and plan on applying Full Time this year. Does the job take too much of your time to study ? Is this a good idea ?

It depends on how hard you are willing to work. I guarantee you can't keep up with college course while you are in the academy, but after that, it is all up to you. I started police work with a high school education after getting out of the service. I competed a two year AS program at community college and attended two major universities for my BA and then my MS, all while I was working rotating shifts and raising two kids, and working at least one (and sometimes two) side jobs. And more than a few other guys who I worked with went to school too.
Also, I worked for a big, busy department, and I had to miss classes or take vacation days to make classes that conflicted with the times of my shifts. But, after nearly 40 years on the job, I am fairly well respected, and worked for over 12 years in Homicide and have had a great career, and I am moving into a second career as an educator, that I couldn't have had if I didn't go to school. |

It CAN be done the other way, but take it from me (I've BTDT) it will be easier to finish now... |
