What are the odds of me getting beaten up by the Police for no reason?
Find answers to your legal question.

What are the odds of me getting beaten up by the Police for no reason?

I'm Black, drive a Mercedes, and am a Physician.

As high as the odds of a Black male, with mental issues, being senselessly killed by the police in Inglewood.

i personally think you are pulling a fast one with this question. the answer is very slim to none. if you obey the law and don't do anything stupid, you should have no problems. if you are a physician like you say, then you have the education to know better than to do something stupid.

if u dont do anything wrong then they wont do anything to you - be a good boy/girl/whatever you are :)

Black driving a merc! Very high indeed (your odds of being beaten up by the police). Ever heard of racial profiling?

If you're not doing anything wrong,
zilch,none.

If you get stopped and are being a smart mouth and try to hit the cop/cops,
10-1.

So stay out of trouble and watch what you say to a cop.

No educated black man...nor white for that matter would even consider such a far fetched possibility let alone ask such a moronic question.

And if you ARE black and toss out the line "You're stopping me because I'm black" then you deserve to have your teeth knocked out like Chicklets with the business end of a night stick.

That's been a crutch for years and years and is nothing more than an weak and sorry attempt to ignore the fact that you've commited some type of infraction and refuse to take responsibility, tossing out the racecard instead.

That line works no more. Police are not the least bit intimidated by this stuff anymore and laugh heartedly anytime this is used.

Truly educated people...black and white...don't need to make such baseless and ankle grabbing statements.

So.....you're no physician. That's perfectly clear.

Well, in order to get beaten up, you'd have to be pulled over for something. Although cops pull over for stupid reasons (ex. headlight burnt out, going 5 over the speed limit, patching out while turning a corner, etc...).

My dad actually went to court with a police officer because after a truck hit him, the cop gave my DAD the ticket and let the other guy go. Turns out, the cop and the truck driver were old high school buddies. Isn't it nice that we can trust our law enforcement to make the right, moral decisions?

Honestly, I completely believe in racial profiling. I don't know just how many cops would go as far as to beat someone up just because of the color of their skin, but I'm sure there are a large percentage that form opinions based on stereotypes or things like that and make decisions accordingly. Perhaps because you drive a nice car, they would assume you were a business professional? I don't see many business professionals getting pulled over. In my experience, it's always the sketchy-looking cars.

Quite honestly, I don't trust our law enforcement. There are some great police officers out there that do good in our communities, but there are so many corrupt officers. They are in it for the power trip. I have had cops cut in front of me without using a signal (no lights on). I have seen cops swerve all over the freeway (again, no lights). What gives them the right to drive recklessly, and then they give US tickets for it!? Same with speeding! If there is no emergency, the cop should not be speeding!!!

None. The color of your skin, the type of car you drive, and the job you hold do not constitute a reason for being stopped. If a person, any color, any job, any car, is stopped by a police officer there must be a reason for the stop or the stop itself is unconstitutional. If the person, any color, any job, any car resists the officers requests, then the officer has the right to use physical force.

As an educated person you should understand that if you act within the boundaries of the law, you will not be at risk of being stopped, harassed, or beaten by the police. You should also know that skin color is not that important, attitude is.

hella h
not very likely. if you're obeying the law, you should have nothing to worry about.

Most people here are speaking theoretically, because they have not been through it. So, they have no frame of reference and some seem to get a little offended by the question. Seeing is believing. At one time in the Washington, DC area black male professionals were always getting pulled over. I know these men who are doctors, professors and attorneys and who also had served in the military. Isn't that a blip to be treated that way?

But the answer is that it depends where you are. I first say that I respect most people in law enforcement as I have a couple of uncles (persons of color) who are retired from the force. However, there are the other bad apples in the south. It was no secret that back in the day that blacks could be pulled over in the car or be stopped walking on the street and get the mess beat out of them/us in the south. Back then, the KKK was the judge, jury, and the attorneys. Where was the justice?

I would like to think that things and people have evolved since then. But there still are a few bad apples among the majority of law enforcement who are very professional and fair.

Depends on what city you're in, I suppose.
It isn't much going to matter what you drive, or your occupation, and yes, not even skin color...just be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

chances are slim unless your unlucky enough to have a thug police officer attending you and there are plenty of them in the police force albeit most are dedicated and the other thing that comes to my mind unless you have some kind of law breaking idea in you mind why should the police interfere with you

my original question was why do cops ruff people up when they dont have to but any ways i agree that most of the time you have to do something wrong but not always i have been beaten upby cops and they lied and said i assaulted them i will admit i ran from them but i did not assault them that was20years ago now in 2006 i had a cop straight up lie on me and say i was interfering i say he was interfering with me they always use interfering when they got nothing on you they need to be thoroughly investigated when they use that one an i just had 1 use it on me last week and he lied on me i did not interfere with him when he gave me the ticket so watch out interfering is the arrest u for nothing charge . so why do they get ruff when u already got your hands behind your back. now cops lie more than ever and they do not care if your mothers dying and you trying to get home to help her they still write the ticket some cops not all.
