You are a felon or are mentally ill are the only two reasons I know of

Doc Holiday
If you have felony convictions or have been committed to a mental institution, or are a minor.

when you fill out an ATF (alcohol, tobacco, firearms) gun form which is also called 4473 form, they will ask you 10-15 questions in reguards to drug use, your criminal history, mental illnesses, and citizenship...

if you have a felony, any class A misdemeanor you may not purchase a firearm... if you have a class B misdemeanor i think you are eligible as long as it isnt a domestic abuse crime.. class C misdemeanors are not considered when buying a gun... different states have different laws but this is how it is for Texas.. after 10 years i believe your record clears you from felonies and crimes..so some individual companies can refuse to sell firearms to people if they have ever had a felony in their lifetime..

after you fill out the form the company selling the gun calls it in to the FBI where they do a background check on you on the spot.. it will either deny, proceed, or delay you..

If you have a violent, criminal history..

anything else is fair game though like being insane

pistolavirus
If you go to Virginia Tech
