What are the rules for kicking people out of a bar?

I went to a strip club last night with some friends... There was a guy we met and he was letting us drink his Grey Goose alcohol that he had in a cooler. He went upstairs, left the bottle downstairs. When I went to get some of the Grey Goose, the bouncer grabbed me and told me not to get any. Well, I guess that sorta annoyed me, so when he wasn't watching I went over to the cooler again. I expected I would get kicked out as soon as he saw me. Before I could get to it, he ran up, grabbed me and started escorting me out. I wasn't even fighting with him, I was cooperating with the escort. But when we got to the door, another bouncer picked up my feet (I'm 5'5, and weigh 120 pounds). When we got outside, the bouncers threw me, face first, onto the parking lot. I hit the cement, which caused a large bruise on my arm and a few cuts on my elbow. My friends and I then left.
Anyway, I don't understand why they couldn't have just asked me to leave... I can walk on my own. I used to be a detention officer, and even though I'm pretty positive that bouncers don't get detention officer privilege, we were taught as detention officers not to use any force if the inmates were complying with our verbal commands.
I have pretty credible witness because my friends are both police officers and saw what happened. I know I was in the wrong for agitating the bouncer, but I don't think that gives them the right to pick me up and throw me on the concrete parking lot, face first (or to even touch me). Especially when I was cooperating and not trying to fight them. Glad I didn't break my nose. I think they did it because of my size.
So, is it even legal for them to do this? What would you do at this point...? Based on the facts, is it even worth further pursing?
Thank you.

Most strip clubs (or any other bar) don't let you bring in your own liquor.
My bet is that the guy with the Grey Goose is a regular. He went upstairs for some personal services, and because he tips very well, and the bouncer is watching out for him.
Always better not to get on the bouncers bad side!
Consider it a lesson learned.
Also, just because someone shared his goodies with you doesn't give you the right to take some on your own. |

yeah but just like one cop swears he Mirandized you and the other swears he saw it and the judge believes it, you got two bouncers. and you ADMIT to stealing this guys liquor.(won't cost them much to have THAT be His story).
I'd let it go. .The same way I did when I was not reminded that I did not need to say anything. Only cost me three years probation.
Sorry your original question was What are the rules? Having managed restaurants, I'd say they were MORE than nice to you when they warned you the first time. . I would not allow anyone to stay that had violated another customer. To me, the customers property is MORE important than mine.
That having been said, Yes they crossed the line when they threw you to the ground. But YOU crossed the line when you ignored the first warning.
Like I said, let it go! |

Leave it alone. You decided to play games with the bouncers of a bar, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It's really simple, when he picked you up all he had to do was say he concidered you a threat and wanted to remove you quickly (if you are a threat or not is his opinion and his opinion on the matter is respected by the court). As far as throwing you on your face all he has to do is say he dropped you because you were struggling so much.
You don't have a case. I'm not sure why you want to sue. Bouncer told you not to do something, and you decided to do it even after he asked you not to (because your pride was hurt). So he throws you out of the bar, your bones aren't broken, you have all your teeth. But your pride is hurt. Your so special you should be able to do whatever you want, and if someone doesn't let you, then you should sue them right?
Learn your lesson and move on. |

It sounds like you might have a decent civil assault case. The thing is, it isn't just you against the bouncers (who probably don't have huge assets), it's you against the bar (which, presumably, has deep g-strings, er, pockets).
Talk to a good personal injury lawyer. Your injuries aren't huge, so not a lot of pain and suffering, but you might be able to get some punitive damages to deter them and other bars from assaulting patrons this way.
You could file criminal charges, but the standard of proof is tougher, and it would probably only be simple assault. |

you have a criminal assault case. and a civil lawsuit against the bouncer and the bar consult a accident/ injury lawyer. they are free they work for a % of lawsuit usually. |
