Knowing the job, there are far fewer bad cops out there than you might think. |

An absolute shame that corrupt police officers give good officers a bad name. |

That it takes place far less often than people, especially on Y!A, would like for you to believe.
The "blame others for my problems" mentality promotes the mistaken belief among law-breakers that they're being mistreated, roughed up or abused every time a handcuff circles their wrist. Never mind the fact that they had it coming. |

It's like anything else. you have good cops, average cops, and lousy cops. Name me a field where it's any different. |

Doctors kill more people every year than police and you never hear anything about it! http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/11856.php
Like most things, the media chooses to focus on one small percentage and ignoes the good things cops do. |

I think that it occurs far less than you would think. There are thousands of police officers in this country, and if 2 go bad a year, you hear about it. Its just like anything else, you only hear the bad. |

as a retired Police Lieutenant of 20 years I have seen both but it is caused by a minor fraction of the P.D. and these bad ones are weeded out...... it is a shame.....now with police unions it is difficult to fire them..... but eventually they are caught up with.......... I have personally been responsible for busting a few bad cops and a few crooked politicians.......... |

I am sure it exists but if you keep your nose clean, you less likely to encounter it. |

Most cops are corrupt, either by themselves or for the stuff they let there friends, partners etc get away with.
"Absolute power corrupts absolutely"
That is a famous quote for a reason.
Cops have had absolute power for many many years now and it shows in everything they do, when was the lastime you saw a cop "protect and serve"? I never have, unless coming to late and then saying there is nothing they can do is "protecting and serving"
But there sure there to get you for speeding, or some nonsence exhaust ticket, while gangs are raping your neighborhood children and illeagals are hangin out at 7-11 like it's a fiesta. |

police brutality is an every day, every arrest occurrence. when you think about it only a narrow percent of the population feel the need or desire to have the control over other people that a cop does. a cop can intimidate you, beat you and even kill you and his superiors will find it justifiable. maybe by definition anyone who wants to be a cop is mentally unsuited to be one. |

It is prevalent and the officers who don't engage in one level or another are the exception to the rule. Unfortunately the type of job that law enforcement attracts the wrong type of person. The only fair sentence for an officer convicted of police britality is to put them in general population. |

I believe the only good cop is a dead cop, but thats just me, I mean everytime I've tried to have them help with a problem they dont want to and I end up having to take the law into my own hands, which in turn makes them come harass me about, therefore lets get rid of them all |
