The same things that can happen to you if you get caught stealing anywhere. You can be arrested, put in jail, forced to post bail or stay in jail, go to trial some months later after losing your home, your car, your wife and friends. Just for grins you can go to prison for years, and get to meet your own personal Bubba.
If you dont report for work, your employer can fire you. If what you took belonged to the government, directly or indirectly, you can also spend some quality time in a federal prison. |

It being your employer makes absolutly no difference. You steal you will probably be arrested, and you definitly will be fired. |

It depends on how much you steal. If you steal a few pens and paperclips, nothing. If you steal something larger, it depends on the company. Some will just fire you and some will press charges.
I have worked places where fellow employees were merely fired and other places where charges were filed. |
