What could I do to dispute a traffic ticket for a interstate commerce violation?

I was transporting merchandise to a business in another state using a rental vehicle and was ticketed for operating a motor carrier without a medical card.

I've shipped freight before with motor carriers and I've always been required to submit a bill of lading. When I got stopped, I wasn't asked by the state trooper for a bill of lading.

The ticket isn't for all that much, I would just like to be completely informed before paying it. Thanks.

Also, something about air brakes were mentioned as well as the truck being over 10,000 lbs. What are the specifics on these? Thanks.

Traffic laws are "strict liability". This means knowledge of the offense does not have to be established. They only need to prove you violated the law.

A medical card is required for interstate commerce, and you will have a difficult time defending the charge.
