im doing a debate paper and i need to know what country has the worst punishment for D.U.I, i tried googling it and cant figure it out, i was hoping there was a place that made u go to jail longer then a few days and is there a place that they take away ur license forever?

The U.S. does. But places like Austrailia and Europe have their BAC (blood alcohol content) lower. However, we are about punishment, whereas in Europe and Austrailia they are about rehabilitation. Which is why they don't have the problems we here in the U.S. do. They do everything they can to prevent a person from doing it again, we just want to lock people up and throw away the key versus dealing with the problem.

In El Salvador you can face a firing squad. This is because their are so many people in that country that don't have a car, so their is a lot of people walking, riding a bicycle, or riding a horse at all hours of the day and night. So the potential to hurt someone is great. Same goes for Bulgaria where a second offense is execution. Most countries rely on public transportation and walking where as in this country almost everyone drives. Therefore the penalties are higher/more strict outside the U.S.
But having said that, most countries outside of the U.S. also do everything they can when it comes to drug & alcohol abuse, where here we do virtually nothing. We just expect that the problem will fix itself or just go away. This is one of the many reasons why our prisons are overcrowded and we have such a problem with substance abuse.
