What do YOU think of the death penalty?

Forgive and forget? Are you joking me? Somebody murders an innocent human being, and you're just supposed to forgive them and forget it ever happened? Where is the logic in that? I am for the death penalty 100%, but only if the criminal is proven guilty of a heinous crime such as murder or rape, and they are 100% sure that he/she is the true criminal. It would be very unfair if the suspect was falsely accused, then sentenced to death penalty.

I'm not from Texas, but I agree with you. However, it is used to freely, and needs undeniable proof of murder and not just "without a doubt." Actual proof. Then, execute'em all you want, and make it FAST, not drag it out!

If you do the crime - you pay the time. Death if you kill someone. Why waste tax-payers money in keeping the guilty alive- and living in luxury!

Right on. The death penalty is an excellent deterrant for crime, and there is plenty of research that can prove it.
Plus, the people who do things worthy of the death penalty have it coming to them, and they deserve every ounce of what they get. You reap what you sow.

I agree with it except-they should kill that person, whos on death
row, in the same way they killed the person they killed. Let them suffer in the same way. But our society say's "lets just put them to sleep." It's more humane. Isn't that nice?

I agree! Its fair for the victim. If they deserve it because of their wrong actions, fry them in the electric chair!!! We should continue the death penalty!

Revenge does have it's own distinctive odor, but I assure you all, it's not sweet.

While I do agree that those victimized by someones violence should have and keep every right to revenge, I don't agree that the State, ANY State should EVER have the power to kill it's own citizens.

nope, remember, in the bible were they wanted to stone the woman for adultery, and jesus said anyone one who hasnt committed a sin, throw the 1st stone, and no did. so we are all guilty of something and deserve to die, (the penalty for sin is death...romans 6:23)since we all have committed sin, everyone will be dead.

I just look at the death penalty like it was one of my children there and I think what if they really didn't do the crime. Do you want you child killed.

I disagree. Innocent people have been placed on death row as been seen by several who have been exonerated. It's not 100% foolproof and hasn't proven itself to be a deterrent.

It's interesting though that a lot of people who believe in God and 'thou shall not kill' are pro-death though.

WHY
because the person who has been killed has been taken from a mother a father siblings friends and they will be thought of everyday and people will cry everyday for that person
BUT
the killer gets a injection and gets away from the nightmare
he has not got to hear guards call them by a number they have not got to stand when they are told he is not punished when he has been killed
he don't live to live everyday thinking of what he has done because he has been killed by the law
i believe a killer should remember every day what he has done
shut him in a super max in the shu
were there is no sunlight were they are are on lock down 24/7
were the only people he can chat to everyday is by shouting to another inmate because no one but the guards will talk when they pass a instruction through the door
killing a killer makes you no better than the killer
you still take a life
that's my view anyway

no i dont think it is right they need a chance to change there life learn what they did but they will never learn if they get a death penalty
