I don't think you can generalize it as black people because I know some whites and hispanics that like their guns too. Now, they don't go around shooting people. It is more of the thug, gang mentality that think owning a gun makes them tough. Tough is back when two people use to go at it for a half hour with their fists until there was a winner. Being a wuss is bringing out a gun in a fist fight.

I don't see how his question is racist if he is just pointing out facts that he reads about daily.

I am black, in college with a 3.87 GPA, not on the streets, was raised with both my parents in a stable home. Please don't stereotype black people for being scary from your experience; there are black people who aren't involved in gun shooting and murder, and who are kind, friendly and intelligent people. Its not that black people like guns and shooting people, its basically an outlet of frustration for many and a way to prove masculinity on the streets. For some, drugs and money are involved. This trend carries on from generation to generation. Studies show that most black men are growing up without a father figures, fathers to show to show their sons how to be man. Their role models are some of the hip hop artist seen on TV, who themselves comes from the streets and without a father (hence the trend). Unless our black step up to the plate, be real men, get real jobs (not knocking the Hip Hop industry), and take care of their responsibilities, the trend will continue. I truly believe that some black men are mentally stuck in this category that society puts them in (including you) that they feel that guns, shooting, and drugs are the way of life and can't be no more than that. But there is not excuse anymore, we have a black president!

To Weird Questo. Are you serious? You really think gun manufactures are to blame? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see guns floating around in the air randomly shooting people. You are obviously a dolt. Do you also blame the car manufactures for those who drive drunk and kill people? Do you blame the hammer when you miss the nail, and hit your hand?

It's the same reason that mongol tribes used to kill each other before Genghis Khan unified them. The only way for wealth to get into poor communities is for members of those communities to engage in illegal activities.

Anytime people generalize the actions of a group like you have done with your question, it might not be racism but it is stereotyping. I don't think all white males are scary because where I am from three families where just killed by the father in the family. I mean they killed their wife and all their children. It is a far leap to associate ALL white males using the three in the news as my litmus test ( a test that uses a single indicator to prompt a decision). Using their race as a determination of character will always lead you down the wrong path and cause you to make an enemy for no reason.
Things you have to take into consideration when reading any news article. Who sponsors the paper? Who has the most to gain from people being scared? Finally, what is going on in that area?

I wish I knew. I don't think the hip hop culture is to blame though, but I'm sure that doesn't make it any better. It's hard not to be racist when blacks are a minority yet a majority in prison.

Their parents, grandparents or great-grandparents will have moved there from a different country. They probably moved there with very little money and so moved to a cheap area. Problem is, they're not the only ones to have that idea. Places fill up with people who don't have much money -- poverty and crime becomes a problem. In situations like that, people are bound to feel resentful, especially as those who are in these areas are not originally-American.

Because the "black people" you seem to be reading about are the unfortunate who didn't get to grow up in a good area and in a good family. They grow up in neighborhoods where guns are needed to protect yourself and unfortunately they feel the need to commit crime because of where and how they grew up and live. There is a different story behind each person, but it is not just them who cause crime. Also, they don't just like guns, and they aren't the only ones who do. I myself (white woman) have 12 guns. They usually have them out of a feeling of necessity and security to protect themselves, their family, and their area. Also, your statistic of 99% is off. It will vary from area to area who commits more crime, whether it be with a gun or other weapon or non violent etc.

Well most people who have guns pointed at them repeatedly eventually adopt the mind set and ways of their oppressors.
Seriously though that is an ignorant statement. Cops and Military personnel like guns the most, and I am willing to bet that there are less dark skinned people on the police force.
Actually I would say it is racists trying to keep people in their supposed place that causes certain groups to fall into criminal behavior because all other avenues are closed off to them.

Actually it's because the white man kept them ignorant for centuries actually making it illegal to teach a african american to learn how to read and write.

With ignorance comes violence, this will change but it will take time. Understand at one point in American history we didn't even value black people as a full human... there's a lot of progress when you look at history and it will only continue to get better.

Why are you pin pointing black people for this, when there are a lot of white people, hispanics who shot people also. Just as much if not more the black people.
These large gangs out there like MS13, Aryan Brother Hood and many others who shot people, and their mostly white people.
It's racist to say it's all black people that kill, it's not true. There's people of all races that kill people.
