I am interested in becoming a cop and would like to know what steps to take, what classes to take. I will be a senior in high school in the fall. Please answer with the best of your knowledge and research. Also are there a lot of women who are in law enforcement, because i don't want to be weird and be like the only girl or something.
My goal overall would be to start as a street cop in my town or near by, then later move to a bigger city to help prevent crime, work my way to detective and go from there. What do i need to do to become a cop

hi, well im in the same grade and my goal is to become a cop as well as you do...
little recommendation before i answer:: try to find a POLICE EXPLORERS POST near your city, I have been in 1 for 3 years and is a great experience
usually what you do is
-you need to apply at which ever pd department you want
than they test you
usually the tests are
-written exam
-physical fitness indicator test
-background investigation
-Oral interview
-medical exam
-drug screening
if you are successful they will send you to the police academy,, which in most states takes about 7-8 months.
you only go to the police academy one time, unless you move to another state (depending on state's policy)
and almost every single department in the united states encourages minority and FEMALES to apply,, so you have an advantage there!!
