It depends on the department. If the weapon is furnished by the dept. they can require you to leave the at the L.E.C. If you furnish your own you can take it home or lock it up at the L.E.C.. In my 18 yrs. I always furnished my own and I took them home with me. |

My husband used to keep his close to him at all times. He also was required to wear if when he was off duty. This was in California. Cops are cops 24/7. |

They get to take them home and store them there. My mom always kept hers on top of the refrigerator until my sister and I were old enough to keep our grubby little paws off of it. Then she kept it on her bathroom counter with her badge. She bought it when she retired, so I'm willing to bet she keeps it on top of the refrigerator again. I reckon that other precincts can have different rules, but that's how it goes here. |
