You have to put a very difficult question to your conscience and apply logic.
What did he do ?
What purpose will his sentence serve?
Will it alter what he has done?
Will it be a benefit to the people of this country or will it be a liability?
What ever I decide how will it affect me?
You must also ask yourself if it right to go beyond the laws of the country you are living in? Non disclosure to the authorities is aiding and abetting.
Now ask should he/she have put you in this position.

it depends on the crime. If it is a crime that i believe that the person is guilty and should be punished then i would contact the local police and inform them of what i know |

if they are an immigrant (quite likely)..let them go on the promise and assurance they wont come back. Saves time, money etc., one less for overcrowded jails. |

I know what I'd do............However, if this person happens to be you, and was facing jail time, go for it. If it's a serious crime and if you've hurt or killed someone, which probably you wouldn't be out on bail, and chances you'll do it again, I believe I'd get myself off the street, take any help you can get from the UK, serve the time, get out and live right. |
