the total lack of respect that they get. It bugs the hell out of me. They face dangers everyday, that would make you piss your pants out of sheer fear. They take the scum off of the streets so its safe for your kids to play, they make it so you can sleep at night without worrying that some deranged psycho will break into your house, rape your wife and kids and leave you face down in a puddle of blood. So you want a world without cops go ahead and move to Uganda or some other craphole 3rd world country, where the police dont exist you'd be dead in a matter of hours. The next time you see a cop, thank him, thank him for going to bat and risking his life everyday to protect scumbags like you, im not saying there arent crooked cops but the good far outnumber the bad. You disgust me. |

The fact that they often don't get the respect that they deserve. They put their life on the line everyday to serve and protect, but idiots out in the world disrespect the job that they do. I understand that there are crooked cops out there, what about the groups of them who not only do the job everyday, but they are the job. Thisnk abotu that, they are the job... |

The ones that hide behind their badge and do not "serve and protect" with their whole heart. It is a thankless job and can be crazy at times, but one cannot give up on their public, once an officer looks in the mirror and dreads putting on that badge, its time to retire or find another job, becasue he/she might be placing him or her self in danger and forget that everyday is different. |

The fact that we do a job that you are too incompetent or too scared to do. It is disgusting the way we work weekends and holidays, 24/7. All this for crappy pay and having to deal with complete ******* all day long. It is really disgusting that we, even though we are usually of above average intelligence, continue to work at a job where people like you could care less about our welfare and in the same breath ***** because it took me more than 30 seconds to respond to your call for help. But most of all I am disgusted by the fact that our intense dedication to duty, belief in a system of laws and the dedication to actually place our lives in danger to save you, keeps us from quitting for a higher paying, less stressful M-F/ 8-5 job.
Disgusting! Isn't it?!? |

I find the way we tend to pay them so much more than teachers pretty disgusting. I don't care for the way law enforcement seems to be a growth industry. I am not really sure how many cops want to see an end to crime, but I know that those who make money off of prisons don't want to see an end to it. Actually they would probably like to see greater cuts to education and new subsidies to private prison companies. There is a great problem in the philosophy of some of our great knights in shining armor. They want to kick someones ***. They want that first and then learn that it is unacceptable to do so unless it is justified. And so the justification grows and grows. The people that deserve to have their rights imposed upon or taken away grows and grows. This is why they become cops, and soldiers, and not counselors or teachers. It is about hierarchy and domination not service and protection. This is what I find disgusting.
P.S. We all have to suffer idiots in this world, how we react to them, and and what we choose to do about it, defines our character. Some of the cops who have responded to this question clearly have deep issues with the people who they are said to serve. I ask, isn't this the type of attitude that leads one to justify some of the mistakes that have made people so angry with police in the first place. It may be hard for some to realize but poor people are expected to have poor attitudes, police are not. If police and educators and politicians and all citizens do not address the devisive nature of our attitudes towards one another we will self destruct. There are to many people in america that think they would be better off without some other group that also lives here. We all need to take stock in the way we treat each other and the way we value some peoples contribution vs someone elses. |
