What do you think about convicted criminals who are given the death penalty?

I am absolutely against the death penalty for three important reasons.

Our government consists of people who think fairly incompetently; we are discovering that evidence against many persons, hundreds or more nationally, is faked, misread or even ignored. So someone, many persons, could die of a mistake--you or me--in a murder case.

Second, murders are manipulators of, dictators over others. That's what such people live for. Take liberty away from them,
then they can't manipulate, harm nor murder others--and they always want to die.

Why let them do so? They are just as much out of the way, and far more tortured, in a strict prison--even if we don't try to study them and also prevent more deaths in the future, also a very good idea which requires them to keep on breathing.

The third reason is I'm not religious. So if judgment is to be our duty on Earth, nothing is implied about us doing murder. Except that civilized men don't kill other people except in self-defense.
Only children or pseudo-religious fanatics hate people who are no longer an active threat to them, or to any other free man.

We are the only "civilized" country on Earth that still murders prisoners. Please think about it.

What they need to do is take everyone in prison that have committed serious crimes and execute them all or put them into slave labour

I am against the death penalty period and much much more since the incident in chi ago Ill in the 90's and the Rampart fiasco in Los Angles Calif, in ill 47men were executed and later a reporter proved that 35 of these men were not guilty, he also proved that the cops lied and the prosecutor lied and knew some of these men were not guilty,, yet not one of the cops was indicted , nor the prosecutor , they should have been charged with murder same as any other murderer, they did in effect kill these men and in the worst inhumanly way, in Calif, there were hundreds of such cases how many executions no one really knows at this time , maybe never, and no doubt most will be covered up, so how can we have any confidence in our court system when we have prosecutors , judges, etc as crooked as the criminals are,

In my opinion that should be reserved for the serial killers, or in that range. The rest needs to be 100 years.... We pay out alto of extra money when it is the death penalty, and alto of years.. I think that we would all like to see who ever done the crime pay with his life but if it is over at 100 years or so than the family does not have to go through it over and over again. They will never get out ////// no parrole////

I hope that all of the people who wish it " gotten over with " as soo as possible , end up arrested for something they did not do , how much faster will you want tit over with then ? The bottom line is that the criminal system is inept and corrupt and that those with money but their way free , and those without end up with long sentences or dead , our system believes in long jail terms for relatively petty offenses , I have a friend doing life in the system , due to a fake ID , courtesy of you weasels that voted for the three strikes law , when what was really needeed was a law to put molesters away for the duration . The bottom line is that the death penalty was intended to be a deterrent , it clearly does not work , the average cost for housing a person on death row is 10 fold what it would cost for life in prison , It should be clear that this does not work on any level , yet you still feel the need to see someone die , If you truly feel this way then get your sorry *** out and take care of it yourslf , or are you too much of the coward for that and want someone else to do your killing for you ?

i am totally in favor of it. i'm talking about the ones who have killed people savagely and raped many times over. today jails and prisons are so overcrowded and they have their own way to communicate. i mean the ones who are let out of prison on "good behavior" still have their ways of making contact with the fellows in prison to get a hold of drugs, for instance and get them sold on the streets. i am not in favor at all with "rehabilitating" criminals. nobody can change people like that unless the Lord Jesus Christ saves them and even then i still say they should be put to death because each one must pay the price that is coming to him or her. we should not play favorites when it comes to this.

I say go for it and it should be done within a month...why should sit in prison for years getting free medical care, 3 full meals a day and not have to work and still get paid (not much) ...Jails are overcrowded because they put them in there and then 20 years later they kill them...ridiculous...do it quickly and get it over with..for the sake of the family...don't make them recall that incident 20 years later at the execution..that is cruel

I think they should get a life sentance. Many states and countries that have thrown out the death penalty have learned that "convicted" does not always mean "guilty". The CA system is barbaric and wasteful. Way too many people incarcerated for way too long for nonviolent offenses and too many people sitting on death row with more resources than lifers. There is a lot of hypocrisy in the "Culture of Life" (translate: anti-abortion & pro-death penalty).

They live too long on my tax dollars in jail. They should be taken straight from the court room to the gallows to be hung publicly. The other prisoners should have to bury them. And then what do you know? More room in prison and more money in my pocket and more people thinking twice about their actions.

I'm glad you asked. If I ever ran things, this would be my first law: No one convicted of a captial crime would be allowed to live on death row longer than their victim's age at the time of their death. For example: Polly Klaas was 12 when she was taken from her home and murdered. Her killer, Richard Allen Davis has been death row much longer than that. My law would have him killed on the day that his sentence exceeded her years on earth. No more appeals or playing the system. Thanks for listening.
