What do you think about gun control?

Stricter gun control laws often times makes the gun violence worse. Look at Washington DC as an example. Some have said that those who don't care about following laws will still carry weapons and commit crimes with said weapons. Only law abiding citizen's will be disarmed.

you mean banning guns from the good people ? you lay a gun on the table and come back 20 yrs from now, and unless someone pulls the trigger it will never go off, we need to tighten our laws and get rid of the bleeding heart jurors and put the animals away that do kill maybe then we might have less murder because guns aren't the only way you could kill anyone.

I think there is enough gun control already. The "existing" laws should be enforced fully. People who violate gun laws should be punished to the full extent of the law, not let out early. People who kill others in anyway should be punished to the full extent of the law, not let out early. I personally believe in the death penalty - but if there is not going to be a death penalty, then those people should "never" see the outside of a prison.

a law only affects those who abide by the law. i carry legally, but if i wanted to get a gun for criminal activities i would get it cheaper and with no paper work from the street as opposed to a gun shop or pawn shop.

what needs to happen is a ban on the criminals not the tools they may choose to use.

Gun control advocates never do research to see what happens when gun control is put into affect. You need only to look at Australia and England to see that gun control is never going to work. Besides that, the basic rule of law is that owning a gun is an unalienable human right in this country. It is in the Bill of Rights. More people are killed each year by medical malpractice than by firearms. Thats one stat you wont find in the Brady bunch. They talk about Bush disregarding the Constitution, if gun control was ever voted in, besides having to have it removed by the supreme court because it goes against the constitution, hey would hypocrites.

You are the direct link I was looking for to show the liberal agenda. Once again, liberals only show the outcome of a law that supports what they want you to see or hear. Why dont you tell the people how murders and forcable rapes have gone up 58% since the gun control law was put into affect, why dont you tell them about the farmer who got life in prison for shooting the rapist that was raping his wife.

Like i've said many times on YA, you can legislate the types of guns and the number of guns people own, but you can't legislate how people use them.

In New Zealand we do not sell guns unless you have a gun license. You get your license after you have passed a questionaire at the Police Station. I would also say that they look into your background to see if you have any criminal convictions.
I think (can't remember) that after a few years you receive a letter asking what guns you have, and it's noted down.
We have some idiots that use their guns and kill people ... but mostly during hunting accidents.
We have never ever had anybody go on a killing spree in this country using guns.

I think we should learn from other countries and make gun ownership a closely restricted priveledge. Read the Second amendment. There is no "right" to own a gun to wreak havoc, its only about a well-prepared militia. There would still be violence and tragedy, but surely not so horrendous.

look at Canada and look at America and you'd see the difference....maybe gun control doesn't work AT ALL, but at least I rather live in a country where it's not a norm for carrying a gun around and still consider legal

It's simple. In Britain there was relatively little gun control prior to 1996. Then in 1996 17 people were killed by a gunman in a school in Dunblane in Scotland, who later killed himself. This brought public outcry and all cartridge ammunition handguns were banned in the UK (with the exception of historic and muzzle loading handguns). There have since been no notable school shootings in the UK. There have been 3 in the US this year alone.
