Your question is a very open and argumentative one as we will all see by the answers you get. Personal politics will come out in force.
What do I think of execution? You mean Capital Punishment? Death by some means deemed and enforced by the State Court and this Country?
My opinion here..........is equal to all others that may comment.
Thus is the will of a free Nation.
Lethal injection is used by most states. In fact 37 states currently use lethal injection. Only Alabama and Nebraska still use the electric chair as far as I know. The state that I live in used the electric chair until very recently.
I am for capital punishment for all crimes that fall under that sentencing guideline. Death is the punishment for certain crimes, that is simply the law of our states.
The criminal sentenced to death should receive the penalty for the crime committed. No if ands or but's. The lenghty drawn out
appeals process ( often 10 or more years) is done to give the accused every opportunity to provide the court with any new evidence that would over-turn said penalty. That is the ONLY chance they get. And more than enough.
Their victim (often victims) were not afforded a second opportunity at life! Did he/she (the criminal) stop just before they murdered someone and ask them if this is really what should happen to them?
Compassion is a word that should be given to the victim, their children, families and friends. Death is imposed as a Punishment, NOT a vendication!
Those that protest the death penalty, do candle light vidgils and whatnot haven't a clue on earth what a slap in the face it is to the victim and thier families, society and the Laws of this country it is to denounce the death of the person that caused the absence of my Father, Mother, little child and husband.
The "right to do so" is called freedom of speech and public gatherings for the purpose of doing so falls under the same Government that allows the penalty of death.
If someone wishes to forgive a criminal act then do so in your heart. If you wish to pray for the deliverance of their soul, then do so. Let justice take it's course for those that the crime directly effected. |

I think they need to do more of it. Maybe people would think twice before they took someone else's life. I think all the states need to go back to the electric chair like Nebraska. They deserve a little pain while they die not just go to sleep. If they are dead I guess it would be pretty hard for them to kill any one else ever again. |

That is the punishment that all criminals should get.
That is the law. |

I like Texas's version. The express lane. No more being on death row for 15 years - even for the ones who want to die. |

Personally i think execution is an easy way out.
Since us humans are social creatures, solitude is probably a better punishment...or something long-term.
Execution is...just the end.
And thats it.
And murderers (for example) really deserve an equal punishment.
I don't think its fair if...
say a man rapes and stabs a victim, and then gets a shot as a means of punishment.
he barely suffers!!
But then again, life isn't fair, so i guess if the death penalty is working then it should stay here.
Only my opinion. =) |

Depending upon the crime,ie; crimes against children, killing a PO-judge etc ,then kill them all because this person can never be rehabilitated. So sorry let God deal w/ them. Some criminals can return back to society w/out problems, but the "leopard w/ spots" thing usually kicks in. I like to think that the death penalty is a deterrent but I'm starting to think that it might not be that much of a deterant as it is a removal of the bad. Some people can not be helped.Unfortunately they need to be removed from society before they hurt or kill other innocent people. |

The Bible accepts execution. A guy that kills a family or children or rapes alot of woman and kills them should get the firing squad! |

I don't think they should "suffer" in prison. (yeah...right) spending time in the prison library ....or the TV room....outside on the basketball court. Getting three meals a day...roof over their head. Visitors from outside. (all at tax payers expense) When you MURDER someone, their life ceases to exist. Execute the murderer and don't wait ten years to do it!!!! |

If you research it a bit Evelyn, you'll find plenty of studies that show that executions don't deter capital crimes. People don't kill others because they think that they won't be executed.
Capital punishment is to make the public feel better, not to deter crime. It's obivious that the killer and victim are equally dead, so how does one killing justify another (the execution). Killed is killed. The motives behind the killing don't matter.
It's not whether a person has been judged as worthy to live or not, it's that nobody has the right to kill another. |

I don't think they should be executed. I think we should bring back torture. Maybe.
Probably not though. |

Execution is the ultimate evidence that a society cannot overcome those elements which lead to capital crime. Unfortunately, humans are still very young in the evolutionary process. |

No don't kill them. Let them suffer in prison for the rest of their lives. |

I don't believe in execution. I don't believe that we as mankind were given the right to determine whether someone lives or dies. Here in the U.S., I think the punishment is doled out in an extremely biased manner. We are also the only post-industrial country that still utilizes capitol punishment, and the use of execution does not seem to act as a deterrent to violent crimes. Studies have shown that keeping a prisoner locked up for life does actually cost less than execution (mostly due to the appeals process and the fact that prisoners of death row do not work.) |

I think it is horrible to pay somebody to execute another person, no matter how bad that criminal is. Think what that does to the person who has to carry that out. That's what bothers me about it. |

they shouldnt be because we cant just simply decide if someone is put to death or not(unless they did something unforgivable) |

I do not think so.. However I do think our jails need to be horrible for those who would be considered going to be on the death penelty. Such as a hole in the ground and that is it. It is Gods right to determine there death and afterlife. Just my opinion! |

No people should not be executed! Who are we to say when a persons life should end? Even if they are a murderer then that just puts us on their level now doesn't it? |
