a police report looks like a bunch of boxes for details of the victim, the suspect, and a narrative paragraph for what happened. theyre structured like this. ( criminal reports and traffic accident reports) theyre 2 different kinds.
ARREST REPORT
name, first, last, middle, age, address, city, state, zip, social security number/control number, contact number, next of kin,
employer, address
spouse? married, single?
hair color, eye color, race, white, black, latino? asian?
height, weight, allergic to meds?
mental health history?
witness names, address, phone number,
what happened/state the facts...followed by who, what,when, where, how...
witness statments, who what when where how
did victim require medical treatment?
describe injuries, ambulance required?
crime comitted/charges/describe
for example theft m1, misdemeanor
rsp-2900.03 recieving stolen property etc
officers narrative..what happened in detail, including victim, suspect info, details of crime(s)..date, time, who,what,when, where, describe the elements and document the exact crime codes listed under state law codes. and action taken by officer, warrant issued? dispostion, how case ended or if referred to detectives, etc.
have victim sign and give the victim copy, save copy for the police department, save a copy for the dept. records division. |
