I am a sheriffs deputy. you need to talk to your lawyer or a case worker because if you are sechedualed to testify and dont show up the judge with authorize a bench warrent to get you.

Failure to obey a summons is a crime. Do not end up in jail to save your friend from jail. You can talk to her lawyer and explain your dilemma. Her lawyer can also call you as a friendly witness. A jury will likely disregard your testimony about your fight if they see you do not believe she did it.

I am not a lawyer. Assuming this a criminal proceding, failing to show up when your presence is required in court could be considered contempt of court. Not a good idea.

If you received a subpoena you could be charged with contempt. However, since you appear to be the complainant if you don't show up the case would probably be dropped and no harm to you.

If you have received a subpoena, not showing up is "contempt of court" and probably a more serious crime than the one that your friend is being charged with. You could (probably will) be arrested and then forced to testify anyways.

You should go to court and tell the truth. Without corroborating evidence, eye witness testimony is not always considered strong evidence anyways. The fact that you and your friend had an argument previously (particularly if it were witnessed by other people) might make your denial of having seen her do the deed more important.

This could be the best support for your friend. Testify to help them but try not to stray from what the report statement says.

Is she still your friend?
Ask her if she did it

You will go to jail.
Go to court, tell the truth. You thought she did it at the time but you didn't see it and now you are not sure.
