Any police who stops you for having a loud car will give you a "fix it ticket", which will give you ample time to get the problem fixed.
After you get it fixed, all you have to do is stop any cop or police and show them that you fixed the problem and they will tear up the ticket. |

usually ( at least where i live ) what happens is you'll get a ticket saying that you have to fix it within 7 to 10 days. after it's fixed in that time period....you take the ticket to the police station or court house along with your car and it gets dropped. if you get a ticket , keep it in case you get stopped again. then you can explain your situation and save yourself another ticket |

Just remember, the cop that stops you doesn't know the story of why your car is loud when he stops you. He doesn't know you personally. He or she will probibly be on guard when they initiate the stop, because quite frankly loud exhaust is great probable cause for a stop, which means they can stop you and make sure no other crimes are occurring or have occured.
Be nice when the officer approaces you. Keep your hands in plain sight, turn on your interior light so the officer can see inside your vehicle. Make the officer feel that you are not a threat to him or her. Answer his/her questions and tell the officer what happend and that you plan on having it repaired ASAP.
The officer has a job to do, prevent crimes. In cases like this there are 4 general options to achive this, one option is officer presents, just the officer stopping you may be enought. Another is a fix it ticket, that may be enought to assure the repairs. A citation and lastly impounding the vehicle until proof of the repair is provided. It is generally the officers descresion on which method to use and its up to your attitude and information to help the officer decide. Generally I used the lowest level to assure the violation would be cured.
So convince the officer that it had just occured, you attemmpted to get it repaired right way but were unable and that you will have it repaired ASAP. Advise the officer you keep your vehicle in good driving condition and are very concerned with the vehicles operatability.

They might give you a citation but if you print off a copy of your question they'll probably feel sorry for your illiterate as* and help you with your education. I won't even get into the fact that you are driving around in a 1990 Dodge Omni |

They will give you a fix it ticket. All you have to do then is get your car fixed and take the ticket to any Police Officer and have them sign off on it and you will have to mail it in. It wont count against you on insurance or anything. |

Try to not drive your car for this weekend, it is only two days. You must have friends or family that can take you places for two days. If you drive it and you are lucky maybe you will just get a fix it ticket, but why take a chance? |

Just tell them what happened. I don't know the exact rules, but I assume that they would be some what sympathetic. |

they wont pull u over...there are loud cars all the time and they dont get pulled over..if u do, they'll just ask you what is wrong w/ ur car and why its so loud |

Generally you are allowed a period of time to repair a vehicle that is in violation of something like that. |

If anything, you will receive a "fix it" ticket. Once it is repaired, you take it to the police station, show them how nice and quiet it is and all is forgotten.......... |
