What happens if you don't reply to a parking ticket within the 28 days?

I've had a few parking tickets lately and forgot about one of them. Just found the letter "requesting info to identify the driver". It says i have within 28 days to reply, but its been 32 days now. Would it matter if i just sent it tomorrow? or would it be better to say I never recieved the letter?- but then what would happen?

If anybody knows anything about this I would be very grateful, Thanks

they will send a reminder. You won't get arrested how can they arrest if they don't know the driver???
Just coz your the registered keeper doesn't mean your the driver.

A bench warrarnt may be issued and you could actually be arrested for not replying. Take care of it as quickly as possible and do it in person.

Warrant goes out for your arrest. 28 days is enough time for you to pay that ticket!

If they can find a police officer with no paperwork to do they will probably send him round to arrest you eventually.

Ever heard of a bench warrant?? These are pesky things that haunt you when you drive by a police person and hold your breath. If you get caught in a speed trap or a dui checkpoint then this pesky little bench warrant will come up and you sir will be on the ground with your hands behind your back and a dog in your face barking trying to get a treat from you becuase the police person told the dog to ask you for the treat and that is the only way the dog knows how to ask. If you are in UK, you have to pay double.

In the UK it depends on whether the ticket was issued by a local authority or a private company. If it's by a private company then it is contract law that covers the action taken, as opposed to criminal law for tickets issued by local authorities.

But basically, it is the driver of the car who enters into a contract with the landowner when they drive into a car parking area which is covered by the private company. Therefore only the driver is liable for the ticket. If the private company can't prove who the driver was then they can't claim a penalty, and they have no legal right to demand to know who the driver was. The private company would have to pursue the case in a small claims court, but would have to be able to prove who the driver was.
