Funny you mentioned these two states. Back in '91 I was caught for speeding in New York while I lived in Minnesota. I received many angry letters demanding payment, but ultimately nothing was done to collect.
HOWEVER, please know that this was in 1991. Times are different and I believe that states share information more readily nowadays... Check into it. |

I worked at a court house, so I know this for sure. All of the country's DMV files are linked. If you don't pay your ticket they will first add an additional fine, in CA that is usually $300. Then they will send you a letter. If you still do not pay the court will send that you never paid the ticket over to the DMV. They will then put a hold on your license. So, the next time you need to renew your license you won't be able to, unless you pay the original ticket in FULL with the additional funds being charged. The courts can also send you to the Franchise Tax Board and they will garnish your wages. Best thing is just to pay it my friend. |

They will send a letter to you stating you have an arrest warrant of file. No one will come looking for you but if you get stopped by the cops in the future for something, they will see you have an outstanding warrant. Needless to say that's more trouble than paying a ticket. |

From my experience...(and I was still in my home state, just in a different town) they kept my license until I paid the fine, then mailed it back to me. They CAN contact your home state and have your license suspended, which is more likely what would happen. |

I'm 100% sure:
If your driver's license is issued by a state that is a member of the Non-Resident Violator Compact (and most all of them are except Michigan, Wisconsin, California, Montana, and Alaska.), your license would be suspended for "Failure to Appear" (F.T.A.) in court.
Then the next time you get stopped, you get arrested for "Driving on a Suspended License". Since that offense is "Finger-printable and Photographable" (per FBI), it would mean a trip to the jail, vehicle impound/storage fees, a hefty bond to get out of jail until your court date, a hefty fine if found guilty in court and possibly even jail time if found guilty.
This is why, when I write a ticket to someone with a license through any of those states, I don't release them on their signature. They can be made to post bond or go to jail for even the SIMPLEST driving offense.
This makes it VERY inconvenient for them -- AND ME! This is why, when I stop someone with a license through any of those states -- unless it's a REALLY aggravating offense or they have a REALLY lousy attitude -- I give them a friendly warning.
Warrant are rarely issued for F.T.A. in our court.
Try looking up "Non-Resident Violator Compact" on wikipedia.

Let me tell you from personal and recent experience.. I went to Tennessee from Texas and then on the way back home got pulled over in Tennessee once in Arkansas and then in Texas got a ticket in Arkansas and got it for speeding well I didn't pay it until I GOT A WARRANT FOR MY IMMEDIATE ARREST and ALSO NOTICE FOR LOSING MY LICENSE UNLESS I PAID IT IMMEDIATELY and they charged me more for not paying it on time so dude if you want your freedom pay it now and don't be charged more for something that is really stupid. I am like you and I went on here and asked questions and got the same answers you are getting but mine is best answer. You will in about 5 months get a warrant for your arrest and suspension of license for about a year if you don't pay it so dude just work out a little arrangement if you can't afford it all up front they will help you just give them something they can't put you in jail for paying just a little at a time until it is actually due. |

no you get your licence removed then its a pain cause you have to deal with that state to get it back |

I'm 100% sure. If you never go back to that state your okay. Not paying a ticket results in a warrant, and that costs a lot of money and you get locked up if you ever get caught by the cops in that state again. Just don't go into that state ever again, but if you have to, DON'T GET CAUGHT BY THE COPS. |

If you go to Canada, you can get a ticket and not have to pay after returning to the US. However, within the US, if you get a ticket, they may choose to mail you a bill. |

45 states are members of the Drivers License Agreement. Member states are to report tickets by motorists to the state where they received their license to drive so as to receive points, and get an insurance hike. Also, when a state suspends the license of a driver who is out-of-state, the state where the motorist received a license to drive will also suspend their license as well. A warrant would not be issued.

Yes it will follow you. When you got that ticket they have a record of your license number so if you dont pay it and you need to do something at the DMV it will show up so do yourself a favor and just pay it |

You would have a warrant in NY. If you went to jail they might find out you had a warrant in NY, but they wouldn't extradite you for a failure to appear on a class C. If you got pulled over it may or may not show up on the computer. If it did, it would be at the discretion of the officer to arrest you. |

Yes you will get your license revoked. The law is called," the State impact law." I got a ticket in Baton Rouge once, I live in Oklahoma. I tore the ticket up. I got a letter telling me my drivers license was suspended.. Reason: Not paying the ticket in Baton Rouge. La. The ticket was originally $80. It ended up costing me $150 plus the $80. The state of Oklahoma suspended my license because i failed to pay the speeding ticket in Baton Rouge. I know you better pay the ticket. If I'd gotten stopped by the police., I would have went to jail |

They issue a bench warrant which does 'not' have a statute of limitations. Then quit caring until you get pulled over and a NCIC check is done. Then your warrant appears and the locality you are in will probably arrest you, take you to jail and issue a notice of appeal since most states will not extradite over such a small amount. You would then be offered a settlement which would include fine, court costs, secondary fine for absconding and processing fees plus his license was suspended for 6 months. Last person I know this happened too got the ticket in Oklahoma and picked up in Louisiana. The original $75 ticket cost him almost $3000.00 with lawyers fees and the fines. |

Depends on the state. Neighboring states often communicate with each other. Some states, on the other hand, do not. It's a gamble...I'd pay, though.
I had a ticket like that once in NH (I'm in RI). I just kept mailing them asking to delay the court date....and postponed payment for half a year or so until I eventually forgot to mail my postponement letter on time. They sent me some warning, so I caved and paid. |

depends on the size of the city. if they are large they will issue a warrant, possibly report on your credit record, send it to collections. If they are small they might issue a warrant within their city to keep the revenue of the ticket within their city, and wait to hopefully catch you. |

Depending on the state, they will forward that information to the DMV in your state, and you can be issued a warrant for your arrest if you have to go to court and don't show up.
Most state law enforcement agencies and DMV's communicate with each other and it will come out eventually.
Unless you can stop driving in a manner that gets you pulled over and cited, be a man and pay your tickets, or warm up to the idea of being in jail. |

I am 99% sure you get 2 points in Minnesota and NO points in NY. 2 points are for getting ticket in out of state. If you do not pay, NY will inform Minn DMV and Minn DMV will send you notice of scheduled license suspention, if you do not pay. BE CAREFUL..just pay and get it over with. |

I don't know the answer I just wanted to comment on how frustrated I am that no one read your question!!
You did say in the first part (before you added more info)
that you paid the ticket. I wish you could get your answer but I don't think any of these people read the question entirely. |

i doubt that they take the time to mail you the ticket...
in this case, the nypd will have a record of you speeding but the minnesota police will not
so when u go to renew your driver's license you wont have to pay but
sbe very very careful if you're going back to new york because if you get another ticket then thats a problem cuz i doubt they'll let you off twice |

Most states communicate with each other on speeding tickets (look up "non-resident violator compact). They will not issue a warrant for your arrest, but your home state will refuse to renew your license until you clear up the matter with the other state. |

The state that issued the citation will send a nonpayment warrant to your home state and they will come after you.just as if someone from that state got a citation in your state. Its called mutual aid |

A warrant would be issued eventually in the county & state. IDK about nationwide for traffic tickets. I suggest you work out a payemnt plan if you are in that situation. |
