As another posted said, a hospital can notify the police and they can come talk to you. If the assault was recent they're going to want to perform a 'rape kit', which involves photographing any wounds, combing your hair in various areas to look for fiber evidence, taking swabs of various areas, collecting your clothes for evidence, etc. This is where most of the evidence usually comes from, and while you're there they'll treat any wounds you have and offer you medication/testing for STDs and a morning after pill. The testing for STDs is something you'll have to come back later for as they won't show up in tests immediately, but most hospitals will allow you to start antibiotics as a precaution. All medical care should be covered by the state, so don't worry about the cost.
If you only want to report it to the police and don't want to go to the hospital, you can call or visit the police and report it like any other crime. Just talk to whoever is at the desk and ask where you go to report the crime, they should be able to guide you through the rest. The police can't really do any tests beyond taking your testimony outside of the hospital. They're going to ask you for as many details as you can remember, and information about yourself such as name, age, school, etc. Anything that you can remember about the event, they'll ask about. The more info they have the better they can work.
As for being under 16, as long as you're not in imminent danger everything you tell a nurse or police officer regarding this should be confidential.
If you want someone to accompany you to the hospital or help you navigate the legal system I'd recommend contacting your local Rape Crisis Center, you can find the one closest to you at http://centers.rainn.org. They'll also be there if you just want to talk or want counseling. The center should have a 24-hour hotline you can call.
Above all remember that nobody can or should make you do something regarding this that you don't want to. If you don't want to talk about it, you shouldn't until you're ready. If you don't want to involve doctors or the legal system, you shouldn't. The choices are yours, not someone else's. |

Don't go to the police. go to the hospital.most hospitals have a team of nurses specially trained. police can ask questions in order to arrest who did it. they don't do anything medical. Which is what you need. email me if you want my help. Even if you were where you should not have gone to it is not your fault. go to the hospital, they can deal with the police and your parents too. |
