I really don't understand what you are asking. Why did you pull over? Am I missing something? |

It means he was going somewhere more important. |

I was did a "Ride along" with a California Highway Patrolman (more years ago then I'm willing to admit to). During the ride he got a call to respond to an accident. I expected him to hit his lights and siren but he didn't. We just accelerated to about 85mph and zoomed through traffic. I asked him why. He explained that it was a non injury accident, so while it was important for him to get there in a hurry, it was not critically important. He explained that when lights and sirens go on, drivers do dumb things. The most common is to suddenly slow down in front of the accelerating patrol car or to swerve the wrong way when the patrol car attempts to pass. It was simply safer to speed up and quietly maneuver through the traffic. |

Did he have his lights on? Why would you pull over if he didn't. I'm from Texas and I usually just pull over if they have their lights on, otherwise they are just cruising along. |

He probably got a call to a real emergency and since what he was pulling you over for wasn't that bad, he left on the other call. |

he's was on his way to the donut shop and didn't have time to chat |

why did you pull over? did he light you up? if you were signaled to pull over and he kept going he got a call right then. if you pulled over with out him signaling you to then why would he have stoppoed too? or perhaps he lighted you up to make you move out of his way so he could pass you up. cops never do the speed limit and since you were he didn't want to be stuck behind you all the way. |

maybe they were going on a call that didn't require lights and sirens. |

Nothing dude. He passed you. If he had his lights on, then you were supposed to pull over and let him pass you. Those are the rules of the road. |

It just means he had somewhere else to go, probably answering a call. Have been passed by the police lots of times. Once, int about 1985 was doing about 80 on the 101 at about 1 am, heard the siren, saw the lights, went to pull over, and he just blew right past me. |

He was in a hurry to get somewhere. They don't always turn the siren on when they're answering calls, because they don't want to alert the suspects. |

It means he got a call, and raced off to the situation. |
