A juvenile offender is someone who is tried as a juvenile. They have to be minors. Juvenile offenders generally get easier sentences than adults. Usually, they spend a week or two in juvenile hall, their parents pay a big fine, and then they're on probation. Some kids just get fined and put on probation. Courts tend to go easy on juvenile offenders. At 16, 17 in some states, you are generally tried as an adult, even though you're a minor- unless your crime was very petty, such as misdemeanor drug charges. Then you will most likely be tried as a juvenile. At 18, you are tried as an adult no matter what. Minors can be tried as adults if their crimes are very serious, such as armed robbery or carjacking.

A young offender is a person of either gender who has been convicted or cautioned for a criminal offence. Criminal justice systems often deal with young offenders differently from adult offenders, but different countries apply the term 'young offender' to different age groups depending on the age of criminal responsibility in that country.10-17(Is American y-offenders)

Juvenile offender is a minor (below 18 in most countries) who has done an offence. Like if a normal person did something wrong they would be put into jail, after being tried in court. A juvenile offender does get tried in court but goes to maybe a remand-home or something similar

Someone who goes on trial and are below the age of 18(here in canada). She man get off with just a warning.

A juvenile offender is a kid who does an adult crime basically.

Juvenile offenders cannot be sentenced to imprisonment; instead they may be sent to a young offender institution.

anyone who breaks the law but is under that certain states age limit of being considered an adult.

A juvenile offender is anyone under 18 who is charged with any criminal or disorderly persons offense.

What happens really depends on what she is charged with. For relatively minor offenses (a fight where no one was hurt, shoplifting something small), she might have to pay a small fine, stay out of trouble for a certain length of time, attend school, etc. For really serious offenses (killing somebody, hurting someone really badly, robbery, etc.), the court could sentence her to a juvenile institution (kind of like jail, but not so harsh and there are classes and counselling made available).

The good news is that a juvenile adjudication is not considered a criminal conviction. If she is ever asked whether she was convicted of a crime she can honestly say, "no".

Your friend should have a lawyer helping her, to make sure she is treated fairly by the court.

Hopefully she (and you!) will learn something from this and decide to stay out of trouble from now on!

That means she might be going to the Juvenile Detention Center. It's for people who commit a crime and are underage. If they were tried as an adult they would be going to jail.
